I’ve been working on a backstrap/beaver tail project for some time now. First to prevent slide bite, then to mitigate the hump and angle.

The prototype works great. Now on to something less colourful. :)

Never experienced slide bite with any semi-auto pistol in my lifetime, much less from a Glock.

The notorious "glock hump" is also almost non-existent on the 43X/48.

Sometimes it's better to just find a platform that works for you, rather force one to work with modifications.

^^^I agree. I love Glocks but with big mitts and a high grip, they are a problem. Most of the Glock copies/clones have addressed the issue with slide bite and have adapted their molds to eradicate the problem. I wish Glock would get the hint and not just give the back straps, as that adds size to the gun.

Testing went very well. Better that I could have expected. My final product is on the horizon.

I'm definitely in to buy/try them out! I'm so used to pushing up into my 17/19/45s that I get reminded not to with my 48 Talon grips have overlap too so I'd love to be able to wrap it.

Increasing the trigger reach with this might get me back into a 43x/48. I always wondered why there wasn't a Grip Force Adapter for the slimlines.

Final product received and tested.

No more slide bite, grip angle corrected, hump mitigated, large hand happy.

Indeed. It was a shame that Matt closed its doors.

I my design has some “improvements”. Namely, the beaver tail is contoured to allow thumbing the backplate (should they be using a SCD like me). I also found that my thumb got hung up and that tail.

Great tip on the type of tape. I use ranger bands for grip. Easy on, easy off. They function better than the hogue by eliminating the squish and finger grooves. Dare I say, lock my hand in better. They also ensure the BS will never budge.

It’s my “go to” with the grip mods (Backstrap and ranger bands) when I’m out and about.

So much more controllable the stock.
So slim. Almost disappears.

If you were to start an EE ad, I’m sure a number of us would sign up for a group buy in minecraft.

It’s in Minecraft, Shotar, so it’s ok.

Got mine in today. Definitely a fan of how well the grip fills up my hand now without adding any thickness.

I got mine as well, looks like a great design and my poor scarred up hand is going to heal now.  Headed to the range this evening with it.

How does it connect to the handle?
How or where do I buy 2 such units?
Thanks

I don’t want to speak over @Dbltap22 but attaches via double side tape and also has two nubs that fit directly into the trigger housing pin cut up to line it up perfectly. He’s kind enough to send it with tape installed but I took it off and replaced it with 3M VHB tape that I know won’t go anywhere. This design is actually pretty awesome.

Now do the 43!!!!

I put one on my 43 and one on my 43X and went to the range last night.  Definitely an improvement and no more slices in the V of my hand from either.

The 43 fits fine but the tape did not hold, so no big deal, gonna replace that tape with some 3M VHB tape or gorilla tape.

Yeah this is good shit. Definitely blends nicely into the grip unlike some beaver tails I’ve played with. Well thought out product, I wish you success!

Love mine... The 43x grip finally feels right in my Sasquatch hand!

@Dbltap22 ... Great job, brother! I've already left you positive feedback in the EE thread. Only suggestion I have, similar to the others, is to lose the command strip tape and replace with something a little more robust for added security / piece of mind (I used 3M Extreme double sided tape). Might not be necessary, but I move around quit a bit and like having 100% confidence in my gear.

Keep up the great work. I'll buy more if you keep cranking these out!

Thank you for the feed back and the positive bump.

I played around with more robust tape. Always made it thicker so it was spongy with flex. Heating the grip and tape up with a hairdryer seemed to work best for adhesion. But I will try again.

I should have a few more available this week.

The 3M Extreme tape isn't too thick. I also cut the piece to fit perfectly in the small void that you engineered inside the backstrap. No wiggle or sponge effect.

I'd like to reserve one from the new batch. Will send you an email.
