I'm fairly late to the party given what's going on, but does anyone have a lead on 1911 and 2011 80% frames that don't suck?

I was lusting after a Black Mountain 2011 frame for a while, but just never got around to ordering one and they're now out of stock.

Any help would be appreciated.

See if advanced tactical still has the 1911A2 frames in stock. They're para pattern frames. Grip screw spacing is 1911A2 specific. Para ones can be modded.

I checked their website and didn't see any frames at all. There's a ton of different manufacturers on gunbroker, but I'm not sure which one to lean towards.

It would appear that all of the frames need to have  4 critical functions of manufacturing left, with some frames requiring a barrel channel and no decking, or, they require decking and no barrel channel.

With that I mind, the aluminum frames made to require the barrel channel and no decking appear.to be the only way you can make one at home without a considerable amount of milling tools. The Stealth Arms Jig and tool kit is what you'd need. It's about a $450 adventure from what I can find.

Looks like they pulled them from their website

I'd be using a GG3 to eventually finish the frame when I get around to doing it. I'd prefer steel, but am open to aluminum.

I was mainly trying to pick up one of each before the new law goes into effect.

Correct. Still stupid as hell that it's happening, but that's what's sparked this interest in a 1911/2011 build.

Just a note that I wore out a GG3 spindle belt working 7075 aluminum lowers, so a steel frame is going to be really slow going (and at some point, I'm probably going to try it as well).

Dont send money to black mountain. I emailed them when they said out of stock and they said they where is stock, and suddenly the site showed 4 in stock. It did say shipping in 4 weeks and I ordered one.  At one month I emailed, no reply, at 6 weeks I emailed and no reply. I took it to paypal, after 10 days they did not respond to paypal and I got my money back.

This is good to think about. I haven't taken possession of my GG3 yet, but I may look into ordering spares. I don't see them listed on their website. Where did you happen to pick up a replacement at?

This is really good to know. I won't mess with them then. Any alternatives that you've found to a 2011 80% frame?

The Defense Distributed site has some spares, and that is one of the items stocked.

Nope I have looked and no one is offering 80% 2011's that I could find. If you do let me know, or even a 100% for 250 or less.

Limited 10 was the only one I can recall making an 80% 2011 frame....and IIRC there were issues with them as a company

Stealth Arms dropped about 10 of their 80% 1911 frames to $100 or less. For example the government size bobtails with rails and the matched bobtail msh were $100 as a few minutes ago.

Some models are still at the $150-175 discount price. ...wonder if they'll drop more over the next few days but I guess you risk selling out.

Down to two frame styles left, all others OOS.
