Glock 17 (1st generation) about 15 years ago - I still have it and use it and I have absolutely no regrets. Glocks are still my favorite handguns, although I have bought others (S&W, Colt, Kel-Tec, Walther, Sig)
First rifle was a Colt LE6920HB as soon as the ban was lifted. First shogun was a Remington 870P. |
|
The first gun I ever purchased (besides BB guns) was a Remington 870 Express w/26" barrel. Still have it and use it.
First handgun was my Israeli Military Industries Baby Eagle 9mm. Still have it and use it too. |
|
Twas a Bushmaster M4 type carbine (14.5" w/Izzy).
Traded it for a Glock 17. I still miss that rifle. I have since sold THAT GLock 17.... First hangun I bought was G23, that is gone now, too. I've been foolish. |

Gift: 12 yrs old Christmas : Mossberg 500A
Bought: Jennings nine then bought aGlock 23 w/lasermax, meprolight and glock light the next day. Still have em' both minus the Jennings. I'm don't shoot the Mossberg too much. I fell in love w/my benelli and can't put it down . I'm pretty good about not making bad purchases... Except the Jennings, Still I've made a deal with myself that I will not sell/trade any of my guns. I have a friend that has gone through 4 Glock 23's. Buys one and loves it. Sees something else and trades it for that. Misses the Glock and goes back to it... and the cycle doesn't end. Magoo |

First gun I bought was at age 14 I paid $250 for 6" S&W 686. I should have kept it but I was a kid and the 9mms were really taking off then so I had to have one so I sold it.

I went to the local sporting goods store during lunch and looked at what was there. After school, I walked to the store and bought a 10/22. I then walked half a mile down Main Street, gun in hand, to my after-school job. I put the gun in the back room during work. Had a friend pick me up and drive me home afterward.
I still have it, but it looks nothing like when I bought it. I Form 1'd it into an SBR a few years later because I wanted a "pocket rifle". This one already had "evil" features on it before the '94 ban so that's the one I chopped. It's not a pocket rifle if you can't put a folder on it. Oh yeah, first handgun was not too long after the 10/22. I was 18 and bought an Interarms Virginian single-action .357 from a cop. It later broke, and I had a hard time finding replacement parts. When I finally did, I traded it off for something else. I sometimes regret that. It was nothing special, but it was my first handgun. |

First rifle I ever bought was a Bulgarian SLR-101, but let me tell you about my second gun, my first pistol, since this is a handgun discussion...
Straigt out of Recruit training, I went and bought me a used Beretta USA 92FS, with wood grips that can still be found on berettas website. the front of the barrel was silver from being taken apart and cleaned so much. It was the older model that looked exactly like the M9, and had all metal parts, including a 2 piece guide rod that I heard beretta used to use. I loved that gun, but had to sell it to pay for a lawyer. In fact I sold all my guns... I told myself, if I ever get into trouble again, I will never sell my guns. I've bought a newer 92FS, but it doesn't mean as much to me as my first pistol, as they aren't made the same. Thought about getting the wood grips from beretta just to make it look similar... |

I bought my first rifle when I was 18: A Russian M44 (1946). Piece of junk that can't hit a barn door. I still have because no one would take it.
First handgun was bought on my 21st birthday, a Springfield Armory 1911A1 Mil-Spec. Still have and would never sell it. |

My first real gun purchase was a Mauser 98K that was rechambered to .308 by the Isreali Defense Force. Traded it later for a Ruger 77.
The Mauser shot as good as the Ruger even with all of the cosmoline bleeding out of the wood. I do miss the rifle. A clasic piece in a very practical cartridge, with a lot of history built in. To think, back then, it was only $95. I remember taking it to the range for the first time with some surplus ammo and some reloads that my brother-in-law taught me to make. The first shot at the 100yd gong returned a resounding KLANG! as did the first shot at the 200 yd gong after slinding the tangent sight to the next notch. Every round fired that day returned that pleasant sound. Even more satisfying were the looks from the folks at the next bench over strugling to sight in a Weatherby that they had failed to bore sight or get on paper at a shorter distance. They looked at that $95 humble , service scarred veteran that kept ringing the gong in the hands of a 15 year old kid, and mutering while they workwed the hard way to sight in a much more expensive work of gunmaking art and accuracy. ( I admire the Weatherby, but money doesn't buy know how) |

My first gun was a used Mossberg 500!
Still my favorite gun to shoot! I love killing clay birds... |

First gun I bought was a Bushmaster M4gery in March 2002. It has since been upgraded with evil features. I bailed on spring break and used the funds I saved to buy the rifle. Best decision I ever made since the concensus was that the Bahamas trip sucked.
Sadly, it is now at the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay. |

First gun I bought (1984) was a Walther PP.
'Still have it, but it doesn't get used much.... |

Romanian AK 47 baby, I remember because I had just turned 18 and the clerk at the gun store said to me, "You aren't one of those school shooters are you?" No sir, but I did put it to quite a few hogs out on the ranch. They made me wait 3 days to get it, but I was soo happy that I finally had a rifle bought and paid for all by me (all mine). Those were the days.

Neat topic...
The first gun was Savage 12 ga pump. I sawed the barrel to 18.5" because I really wanted something different. I shot that a LOT from 18 - 21 yo. I still have it but never shoot it. The day after my 21st birthday I bought a Ruger Redhawk 44mag. I still shoot that a lot 24 years later. It was pretty new to the market when I bought it. My dad gave me my first gun at 16yo. A Ruger b'hawk in .357/9mm. He also gave me an RCBS reloading setup so I could afford to feed it. Still have both. Thanks, dad. |

My first gun was a Yugo SKS. I sold it to my friend to buy a mint condition SMLE Enfield. Going to buy another SKS sometime soon, they are great/cheap for ammo blasting
|
|
the first gun i bought on my own was a yugo sks, making it my third rifle. Best 99 bucks i ever spent, and i will believe that for a long time. I still love the gun. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants into the sporting world.

Rifle; Marlin Model 60... just like a million other youngsters
Pistol; High Standard double barrel derringer in .22 mag. I delivered pizzas and wanted something just in case. (Yeah, I know, thankfully I never had to use nor did I ever get caught carrying it) Centerfire; Norinco SKS, of course by that time I had already been shooting for uncle sam for a while. The only gun I have ever inherited was a Browning Sweet Sixteen, made in the mid fifties it still is as beautiful now as it was then. |
|
for me it a lot earlier. my dad and i used to go to just about every auction, and flea market in the northern panhandle of wv, and surrounding area's . i used to buy buckets full [literally] of old pocket revolvers from the early 1900's. i often got them for a couple of dollars, then cannibalized them to build functional guns. just to think of the things i did when i was a child [10 yrs up to teh discovery of girls as a seperate activity] it amazing i survived. i eventually sold my little collection at a flea market for an old 870. all 50 or so of them.

Italian marked Beretta 92F.
My tastes have changed significantly since then. |
|
Browning BAR Mk. II Safari, .338 Win Mag. I bought it when I was 15 to use when elk hunting. Almost a whole years savings went into buying that rifle. Still have it and use it too.

I got a Glock 22 when I turned 21 cause I wanted to be an FBI agent. Still got the gun after 8 years but not an FBI agent. Yet.

I was 18 and you have to be 21 to buy a handgun in Texas. I gave my grandfather $300 dollars to buy a Glock 17. I heard the police departments were testing them and I wanted to be a police officer. I later traded it in on a Colt 380 mustang for an off-duty carry. Sold the 380 at a gun show for $375. Used the money to buy a Kimber Ultra Carry in 40 cal. Sold the kimber and purchased a Glock 21 for work. Sold my first duty weapon, a glock 22 when I changed from a 40 cal to 45 ACP. Now I have several other pistols and rifles. REGRET every sale I ever made. Each gun represented a time of life. Read this and learn something. Do not sell your firearms. They are mile stones in your life. I am older and little smarter.

Taurus PT-99. I was so proud of that thing. Didn't take me too long though to set my sights on a SIG P226. I traded away the Taurus and still have the SIG to this day, 17 yrs later.

Sig P228 off my buddy who was hard up for money. I sold it back to him when he was more financially stable and bought a USPC 40.

Model 1917 Eddystone, I don't have it anymore and wish I did. I miss it alot!

|
Be nice to me...........but my first was 9mm Jennings.
Live and learn.......OTH my second was a Colt 1911. Travis Yes I still have it.......wanna buy it? I'll make you great deal on it!! |
|
1985, I was in 8th grade. I bought (although my Dad had to sign for it....boy was I proud though) a Marlin 25 (came with a 4X Tasco scope that broke within weeks). I still have it.

|
Sig P239. I bought it about 10 years ago for concealed carry. I still have it and it's a great gun, but I don't carry it anymore. It's chambered in 9mm. If I want to conceal that caliber i choose a Kahr PM9, but I generally carry the Kahr MK40. It is larger and much heavier than the PM9, but I like the larger .40 cal. It's still smaller and ligher than the Sig.

|
Smith and Wesson 659. Couldn't hit a barn door with it so I traded it the week I bought it for a S&W Model 25. .45 Long Colt with the 8 3/8th barrel. Big difference.....
