Sig 220. So far I have fired over 3000 rounds without any MF..
+1 sig 220, I bought my own so I didn't have to go through the withdrawls you did. had |
if that were the case then I guess we should just say that sigs and HKs are the best thing out there since Seals and Delta carry them. hug.gif |

I'll agree with you both. I've fired around 3000 through my 220, unknown how many before I got it, and it's been flawless. It was a police trade in but not a CPO. Just for grins I ran some resized primed brass through the gun. It fed, and fired just fine. Didn't have enough power to cycle, but I thought it was pretty neat that I could run primed cases through it with no bullet. The brass just slid right up the feed ramp and chambered. My 1911 couldn't do that, nor could my XD-40. MJD |

G21 or P220, just from my experience.
Shoot what works for you and what you like. If you like the 1911 and it's worked for you, use it. Same goes for Glock, HK, or Sig. |
I couldnt say it better, you have to use what you are comfortable with. |
Ruger.....
Redhawk Shoot it, use it as a hammer, pistol whip a few tangos, roast marshmallows with it and it will still operate just fine the next AM. |
What ammo did your USP choke on? |
My particular Kimber is very reliable. Unless I F@CK up the reloads, it has never failed to chamber, fire, or extract. Its also wonderfully accurate.
I have another Kimber (Pro Carry) that has issues with Wolf, and has other picky feeding habits. |
USP. Both my Fullsize and Compact have been 100 percent from the box. No idea how many thousand rounds I put through them, but I've had zero problems.
Is LAPD SWAT, the largest in the nation, still carrying Kimbers? How about DET-1? Oops. |
I have small hands so 1911 hands down.
I prefer 1911 looks to other weapons anyways. + what good is a G21 that I can throw out airplanes and drag behind a truck if I cant hit anything with it cause its wayy to big for my hands . |
I dont know of a USP thats ammo specific. Id say USP or Glock out of the box. As I posted in another thread someone can post the GLOCK Torture test heres the USP. USP torture test.
As a matter of fact post all the torture tests you can find for any of the listed hand guns. |
I love my 1911s. That being said, out of the ones I personally own I'm gonna have to pick my Ruger P97. It has never failed me not even once. Goes bang everytime and it's plenty accurate.
i trust my hk tactical, sa operator, and sa micro completely-based on personal experiance. i trust sigs and glocks based on others experiances.

10 years duty-carry of a first gen G21. Now well over 80K rounds. I haven't replaced any parts yet. Couple of on-duty OIS and one off-duty OIS.
No failures. Ever. Sheep |

Never met one I trusted completely - guns hate me.
Of course I have the worst luck with guns in the world, so that's not all that suprising to me. I'm convinced a weapons malfunction is how I'm gonna die. |

My Kimber 1911 has been plenty reliable for me so far. It has been owned by a member who has posted in this thread. I seem to remember reading in his EE ad that it was reliable for him as well. I like it because it is accurate, reliable and durable...not just because I love the aesthetics.
Next would be the HK USP 45, the one I've shot seemed like a damn reliable gun. I wish I could say I've shot a Sig P220 |
Our department issued Sig P220's right after I started. They were hunks of crap. Everything on them broke. They jammed constantly. We finally got rid of them because of the maintanence nightmare.
I bought my own Glock 21, and it has never failed me - ever. I have never seen one fail - ever - in all of the shooting schools I have been to. I have never seen a pistol that comes close to that kid of reliability, and I have tried and seen many. Just my $0.02. |
I trust my Colt CCO, my Colt XSE Gov and my Glock 36. One of these is with me every day. Right at the moment the XSE Gov is on me.

My Kimber 1911.
Started out as the basic blued fixed sight classic. $500 slightly used. Hand checkered by Me. Bo-Mar rear / Brazos Fiber optic front sights. CMC extreme grip safety EdBrown ambi. KART NM barrel, handfitted by Me. S&A magwell, blended. Wilson trigger, STI hammer, sear, disconnector. ISMI springs. Hardchromed by METALIFE This gun is SO wonderfully accurate and reliable. Last year I fired about 1000 rounds in a two day Matt Burkett class. 100% reliable. The gun is un-stoppable. Years of IPSC and IDPA, steel plates, the gun has had several years of 10,000 rounds per year and just keeps going. |

Anybody who starts talking shit about 1911s requiring tuning has no business talking about the subject, since they clearly don't know enough about the weapon. I have had 1911s that required said tuning. They were garbage made by a company that charged high dollars but cut corners. What's interesting is that if you have a company that gets it right the first time, you NEVER hear about tuning issues, and this ranges from a $300 Norinco to a $3,000 Wilson Combat. Companies like Colt should be added to the mix but they farm too much of their crap out, so many pistols are not up to Colt's real specifications (the first time), even though it is a minority.
If you had 28 companies all building G21s you would begin to see said "tuning issues" all over the place, not because the Glock is unreliable or finicky, but because MOST of the companies that manufacture this G21 either cut corners or have poor QC. On the other hand, if you were to come up with ONE company (let's say Colt compartmentalized and made businesses for EACH of its weapons, and having more time to do one thing right they stopped fucking around and made EVERYTHING in house), and this one company made 1911s true to the original specs with the right, quality products, this tuning issue nonsense would have long since abandoned. Now that we have a fictitious scenario where those are on equal footing, the 1911 would be a no brainer for most. Given it's trigger it is possibly the easiest gun to shoot ever, target acquisition is faster, it is 5 times safer than a Glock, and it's slimline profile makes CCW a breeze. But I digress... this is about reliability alone. The pistols mentioned all go bang, but I feel it necessary to address a myth as annoying as 18 rounds in a 20 rd mag or the M-16 sucked because it jammed all the time (while in effect, it was never cleaned). There is no other pistol approaching 100 years of service in the hands of ELITE military, ELITE LEO, & SMART CCW that is still 100% combat effective, nor is there another automatic that is made by so many companies, nor is there another pistol that is in the hand of the best competition shooters. Clearly there must be a reasons why, and one of them is the quality of the pistol's design. |

I am in favor of the Sig 220. Have owned four of them and they were all super reliable and fit my hand like a glove. An excellent 45.
Carried the M1911A1 as a sidearm in the service. Excellent weapon... But I would choose the P220 if I was given a choice. Fits my style, dead reliable, IMO the finest .45 auto ever made. |
