+1 but my J-frame is a 642.  I carry the 1911 when I'm not working, and the 642 when I am.

Are the 9mms too difficult for you to conceal in the summer?

Im in the UK and we can't carry anything....
no guns, no knives, no batons and no cs or pepper spay.

I owned a few pistols before they were banned here. I do have a few rifles still though

I had a real nice 1911GovCom, 6" 686 and a CZ75 copy and to be honest if I could have carried I'd have prefered a revolver, not a 6" but something shorter.

I'm probably not contributing much to this thread...

just thought I post my thoughts

Cheers

You do us a service by reminding us of what can happen to our guns if we don't remain vigilant.

Post on, my friend.

Indeed

What exactly happened and "why " did you give them up?

The law changed in the UK banning all pistols (not black powder) and we lost  our full bore semi-auto's.

We still own and use AR's but only in straight pull configuration.

Here's mine
www.hunt101.com/img/313363.JPG

I had to hand in all my pistols before a pre-set date to the local po-po.

I lost
22lr Bernadelli semi auto target pistol
9mm ITM AT84 (CZ Copy)
S&W 686 6" (mint).357
9mm Browning
Colt Government Comander .45

I used to take my wife pistol shooting twice a week. We posed no threat to anyone. We suffered the loss of our sport/pastime even though we still shoot rifles.

Here's an old pic of 3 of my pistols before I "lost" them

damn,....sorry for your loss there.

if something like that where to happen here you can bet i would have my firearms boxed up and packed in grease,. and buried until the laws changed.

anyway for the law to change there?

.40S&W Springfield XD-40 Tactical,..loaded 12+1 with 155gr. federal Hydra Shock

Either an XD-357, or a Taurus PT-111 Pro, depending on dress and destination.

I use Desantis belt rigs, usually.

At work I carry a G22 with 15 rounds of Speer 165gr Gold Dot jhp rounds with more on the bat belt.
For CCW I carry a G23 with 14 rounds of Speer 165gr Gold Dot jhp rounds in a Blade Tech IWB holster. Both have Mepro night sights and the G23 is bead blasted hard chrome done by Custom Glock Racing in Az.

I work in the Warrants & Fugitive Division
Everyday Duty: S&W 1911 PD or G23 w/ Golden Sabers
SRT: G22 w/ Gold dots or P226 9mm
High Risk warrants: G21 w/ Gold Dots
Off Duty: SA 1911 Champion

The S&W 1911 PD is new. I really like the feel and balance. But... Everyone knows that a Glock is the Perfect L.E.O. weapon.

Now, I want to go work as  LEO, but most of the dept's want a DA, or something along those lines, but they all (mostly) do not want any SA's.  I'd very willingly carry a 1911 on duty.  However, the glock comes a close second.  I feel that it offers a close 2nd in regards to fast trigger pull when one can't have a true SA gun, so......FWIW  If I can't have a 1911, give me a glock.

I really should go to an IWB given that carrying is a no-no in Nebraska, but I like the ability to take the paddle off in the truck when I must behave like a good subject of the state.

On Duty Glock 22 with 165 Gr. SXT. 46 rounds on me, and plenty more available. Plus long guns.

Off Duty Springfield 1911A1 Loaded Version. 230 gr. HP. 22 rounds on me. I don't feel undergunned either way. I would carry the 1911 on duty if it was allowed.
