Two good choices. Either one is good for a first RC. It all depends on what kind of terrain you'll be using it on.
The VXL versions will be the fastest and probably too fast to be honest. But they can be dialed back with the Bluetooth module and app. Both come in 2 and 4 wheel drive versions. It all comes down to budget for how crazy you want to get. This little toys can get expensive fast. And as you might know Traxxas currently has a sale going on. |

I think the Stampede will be better for ALL surfaces, including grass. The Slash will probable perform better on smoother surfaces.

My son has the Stampede. Yes it’s higher so it flips easier. My 8 year old daughter has the brushed Rustler that she loves and I have the Rustler VXL (well, that’s what it started life as). If I were you I’d choose between the Slash or the Rustler. One good thing about Traxxas is pretty much every damn LHS has parts, so you’ll spend less time waiting if you break something. And you will break something.
ETA: Whatever you get get 4wd. They handle sooooo much better than 2wd. |
