The Aussies are getting pretty good with the LS swaps in them, you aren't doing much to 4cyl and no one really has interest in doing so either.

Someone pulled in front of him because he couldn't prevent them from getting in front of him using HP/TQ to "close the gap."

I drive an old beater.  I throw the blinker on and move over on cunts like that.  They invariably get out of the god damn way, get pissed off, and can't do shit about it.  If I'm coming over, I'm coming over and I guarantee my POS truck DGAF about your pretty bumper.  If I throw my blinker, get out of the fucking way because I'm merging and you are going to let me in regardless of your god damn ego.

I've driven in enough traffic to know the rules.  Fuck you if you think you are going to "close the gap on me."  You spend your $.  You still won't stop it.

Since its that new of a truck, it'd be easier to just sell it or trade it in.  I'd do that long before I butchered and jury rigged the fuck out of it.

Then go buy something you want.

Must mean someone cut him off in traffic and his truck is so slow that he couldnt speed up fast enough to close the gap to the car he was following... believe me I KNOW! I HAVE A 09 GMC CANYON 4CYL 5SPEED 4WD... SLOWEST VEHICLE I EVER DRIVEN!! my 99 s10 xtreme 4 banger 5spd is faster !!!
Only reason why I bought this truck was because its 4wd and was cheap (need it for winters here in ct)

Should have test drove the vehicle before buying it.

There is no way I would replace an engine in a brand new vehicle I JUST bought.  I would just drive it and not worry about getting "gapped" or sell it back.  You are going to lose a lot more value by changing the engine.

That isn't even close to slow.

I had a 36hp VW Bug for a while and my 87 Toyota 4x4 was rated at 105hp when new. It has 300k on it so I am sure some of those HPs escaped over the years.

The truck will barely hit freeway speeds on flat ground.

My dad has the V6 in his CCSB and it moves along fine.

Why did you choose the 4cyl without test driving both?

Eta I don't believe the 4cyl even has cyl deactivation. The V6 does and it gets basically the same MPG as the 4cyl.

yeah but i was delusional enough to believe that i could stand the power difference

with a blower i think this thing could be near v6 power. mid-6 0-60 would be acceptable

I believe the 5.3 was an option on those trucks. Prob wouldn’t be that difficult.  But it would be easier to trade it for something less gutless

Why didn't a simple road test before buying show an issue? And why did you buy a pickup with the smallest engine..you never do that... emissions wise legally wise, the easiest is to trade it back in on a V6 or diesel version, next to that, the easiest way is to buy the engine and components needed from a wrecked V6 model and install them into yours...Still going to cost a pile and in the end you are going to have a 4 banger sitting in a crate that no one will want...

Ha, OP must be young!

I spent years with a 1988 S10 4wd longbed with the horrible GM 2.8 V6. That permanently set the slow low bar for me.

The cost to get a turbo or supercharger working on that motor would be more than the price hit for getting the v6 proper.

Don't look at the diesel either as it will be just as bad, if not worse than the gasser 4cyl for in town racing about.

You are both what is wrong with the world.  Someone wants over, you put the monumental effort in to tap your brakes and let them over.  Maybe even give em a wave.  Then when you want over, someone else does the same for you and you give em a thank you wave.

This is how the civilized world is supposed to work.  Not battle royal at highways speeds with sheet metal.

Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things if someone got in front of you in traffic?
