Yeah, it’s a legit shit show.  However, this is the city they voted for and all the virtue signaling comes with a price.  Or in this case, a lower price.

Less than 1 gram of heroin
Less than 1 gram, or less than 5 pills, of MDMA
Less than 2 grams of methamphetamine
Less than 40 units of LSD
Less than 12 grams of psilocybin
Less than 40 units of methadone
Less than 40 pills of oxycodone
Less than 2 grams of cocaine
Offenders caught with the following amounts of drugs will be charged with misdemeanor simple possession, rather than a felony:

1 to 3 grams of heroin
1 to 4 grams of MDMA
2 to 8 grams of methamphetamine
2 to 8 grams of cocaine

Lol I think this is great. I live across the Columbia in a beautiful little town that is probably just far enough from the cancer to stay clear... but of course I go into PDX for food and fun on occasion and love finding more and more stuff closed down for good. They need to feel the pain they created, and if they want to move with their money to my town and boost up the price of my home a bit more than they already have, I'm a big fan! I plan to move to the dry side of the Cascades deeper into the Gorge anyway. So please PDX'ers, keep this going... I'm leveraging your idiocy straight into my retirement portfoilio.

Can you imagine being a buyer of one of these places?

This shit is only going to get worse.

I cannot imagine buying property in Portland after seeing the response of the city and state government to the BLM riots.   Talk about wishful thinking.   There's going to be alot of buyer's remorse.

It's really sad Portland used to one of the most beautiful livable cities in the country. It has really gone down hill fast in the past 5-6 years.

I drove through Gresham on US 26 last May and every open public space by the road had tents on it.

I thought SLC's homeless problem was bad but Orygun's was an eye-opener.

I was there before the plandemic and the local commie politicians were suggesting home owners have tiny homes built in their yard to house bums. This is all part of the stolen election, bailing out socialist states and now they get to rebuild at some point which will take more federal funny money to be paid to themselves and their buddies.

I honestly don't think this is about decriminalizing drugs.

the change started with the scamdemic, the overdoses are most likely due to depression from isolation and those already on the edge of homelessness losing their jobs for "2 weeks to flatten the curve".

add to that a spineless city mayor and council who refuse to deal with the homeless problem, and you end up with Portland.  I used to love Portland, great restaurants, activities, etc.  now I won't even stop there.  It's drive-through territory.  But blaming it on decriminalization of drugs is myopic, IMO.

And they set themselves on fire on a regular basis(it gets really bad when things get cold in the fall/winter). Check out the fire dispatch logs, it's non stop responses to the various camp sites(and has been so for some time - this was a problem before the covid shutdowns, that just made it worse). And many of these people are very sick in the head and highly combative.

screaming alpha

Navy slang for a person engulfed in flames, usually running around screaming; so termed because burning people fit into the category of class-A/class-Alpha fires (those involving solid, organic combustibles and which leave ashes).
