I've had bfg's in the past & liked them, but not on this pickup. This is for a 1st gen 4x4 xtra cab Tacoma. Something that leans more towards off-road than on.

Caveat: this is a relatively new model and haven't seen any in service for very long yet. The predecessor model was absolutely fantastic, I have confidence this will be as well.

Just bought Sumitomo Encounter AT tires for winter use for my wk2.  Will see if they're as good as the cooper discoverer m+s tires that have worn past their winter usefulness

Toyo Open Country AT3's have done pretty well for me. I've had them on a Chevy 2500, 1500, the wife's T4R and my F-250.

This is what OP seeks.
Might also consider the AT3 LT or 4S models.

Have the AT3 4S on 1/2 ton, very happy with them.

Bfg all terrain t/a k02.  The gold standard of all terrain tires.  They started the category and still own it to this day.

Have had several sets of the Cooper ATs on a 4Runner and they were great all-around, including snow.

Trying out some Wildpeaks this winter.

I have had great experience with the Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires that I have ran on different vehicles over the years. They have done great in monsoon rains along with snow and ice.

Had a set of the AT3 tires on my Jeep.  Very good off road but they started cupping bad and wore kind of quickly.  Decent tires, never got to play with them in any appreciable amount of snow though.

I upgraded to the Yokohama Geolander G003 series mud terrain tire.  I went from a 33 inch AT3 to a 35 inch G003.  They don't have the three peak stamp on them but from what I've seen from people that have run these tires over time, they should have it.  Plus they just look really nice too.

Best AT with snowflake tire I've
ran is the YOKOHAMA GEOLANDER AT G015, I have a set on my FJ cruiser  & they handle NY snow/Icy winters without drama.

Falken Wildpeak A/T3W have been my favorite. This is after several sets of BFG T/A K02 on a 4Runner and Ram 2500.

I ran either Big O Big Foot A/T II (made by Cooper) or BFG T/A KO2 tires on my 2002 Jeep Liberty for quite some time. Both did well off rod  but neither did all that well in the snow. I switched to Wildpeak A/T3 tires which do excellent in rain, snow, and ice. I've ran the Wildpeak's on my 2018 Jeep Renegade and 2016 Jeep Cherokee with great results. And my son is currently running them on his 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk.

I will probably go with the Wildpeak A/T3 for my 2020 Ranger XLT FX4. I can't stand the OEM Hankook AT tires that Ford uses, they are junk.

I always ran BFG KO2's on all my trucks. Small shop mechanic/tire guy who does all my work recommended against them due to a re-formulation of their compound. Said they wouldn't last. I didn't listen and less than 20K miles later I was back for a set of Falkens Wildpeak A/T3's

I might end up trading my Ranger XLT FX4 in for a smaller SUV with AWD or 4WD. No matter if I keep the Ranger or get something else, I will most likely stick with the Wildpeak A/T3 tires since I have always had good luck with them.

BFG definitely changed the compound of their KO A/T tires. The last set I bough didn't last as long as previous sets of tires. And that is when I went with the Falken Wildpeak tires.

My experience too.  If you don't rotate every oil change they wear really unevenly.  Don't know how they compare to other ATs in the snow (lived in the south most of the last 15 years) , but I definitely lost my trucks back end a few times over the last 2 years.

I'll be trying a different tire in spring, and see how next winter compares.

In 2019, i got the KO2 because I couldn't my size duratracs anywhere.
I dropped my truck at the dealer for some AC work about 2 weeks ago.
They always check tire wear, the service writer said they were fine but might need to be replaced at my next service.
I hadn't thought I had that many miles on them. I need to check the receipt.

A truck really needs some added weight in the bed when driving on snow and ice. The beds are light and do tend to loose traction easily.

A funny note. When I was stationed in Baumholder Germany, I lived close to the front gate which was a pretty steep hill. I could always tell who was from the Deep South every winter by sound alone. The guys from the Deep South could not make it up the hill without spinning tires the whole way. Guys that grew up driving in snow got up the hill with no problems.

Another story. It actually snowed in the Mojave Desert in December of 1995 while I was stationed at Ft Irwin. The CHP had closed the pass due to snow and it was the only way to Barstow and the interstate. The pass had 4 inches of snow on the road. I had to argue with the CHP officer before he would let me go over the pass. I had to point out that I grew up in Missouri and had spent the previous 3 years stationed in Germany.

I just traded my 2020 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 in for a 2023 Escape ST Line Select with AWD. I will see how the Bridgestone Ecopia h/l 422 plus tires do this winter and if they don't do well then I will probably go with a set of Falken Wildpeak A/T3 or other high rated A/T tire with the 3 Peak symbol.

Had wildpeaks on my 4R for a few months now. No complaints with them. Just waiting for snow to test them in.

The KO2s are (were?) good, but they aren't very good in the rain. At all. Pretty bad actually.

Never mind, I already posted

And to the above, yes, I know you need weight in the truck bed.  Ain't my first rodeo.
