Wife has a Samsung S7 tablet. Fairly new.  Trying to do piano lessons remotely using zoom - which worked fine on her old tab S2.  Now with the fancy new tab s7 she is having audio issues.  Her instructor can hear her voice just fine, but the piano is muted or filtered out.  Great background noise filter I suppose, but in this case they need the background noise.

Best Buy sold her an external mic - but of course the mic they sold her isn't android compatible.  So at least one more round trip to Best Buy.

Anyone know if there is something that can be set or changed on Samsung microphones to allow background noise? She tried various zoom audio settings and nothing they tried seemed to help.

No. Mic is clear - but good point and I'll double check.

Double checked.  There are actually 3 mics on the thing - all on the edges and all clear.

Wife just got off the phone with Samsung tech support.  They had her enable 'amplify ambient sound' under accessibility settings.  We'll see if that does anything.

Sigh.  Got an external Mic for it, plugs into the usb port.

Works great.

Other than it seem to have shut off the internal speakers. So her instructor can hear her and the piano just fine - but it's a one way deal.

Don't need concert quality sound, no recording.  It's just so she and her piano teacher can communicate.  Piano teachers husband is old and frail so they are being extremely cautious about covid.  All her lessons are via zoom.

Tablet has a single usb port.  So this ends needing even more hardware for adding multiple ports.
