I've been active in GOP politics for some time, and over the years, I've learned one immutable truth about politics in general: the wheel always turns. Today's disaster has a way of becoming tomorrow's triumph, and vice-versa.

ETA - addressing a couple posts up about the wheel turning around: except it doesn't go back to the way it was before. Republicans can't restore constitutionally limited government. Heck, they wrote the Patriot act. Even if the Republicans sweep 2024, the Bill of Rights can't be brought back. Once government has a power, it has it forever, until it is overthrown entirely.

Revolutionary regime change is actually pretty hard.

Right now, the lefties have got an "ember" -- they've been spinning the stick with their hands like Tom Hanks in Castaway for decades.

But they've got their ember.


If Biden's wife has the slightest spine as she puppets her husband through the first year, that ember will go out.    If she actually is using her influence to move toward that revolutionary regime change, then the ember will glow a bit closer to a fire that can torch the constitution.

Even if the Bidens were adamant in being "just"  JFK style democrats, a role for government but not going toward the "Union of Democratic Socialist American Cities and Surrounding Areas FKS*," (*formerly known as states),  then they still have to worry about the deep state engaging in some wet work (and blaming 'right wingers' no doubt), or just a soft coup where all those republican sound bites about Biden's cheese sliding off his cracker are invoked by the Dems in thunderous support of Harris giving him the 25th amendment treatment.   Which gets that ember closer to burning.

Whoever is in that office, if they let in a few million more non-citizens, the ember will be close to torching the Constitution.   Here's how:   "Conservative Groups" have got like 15 or so states already locked in for a "convention of the states"  (that's a code name for a Constitutional Convention, there's no other thing it can be).    If they get enough illegals into the country, then they can "snap" all the liberal states into joining that call, all at once, and the Dem Congress can say "well OK, the states shall call a convention and the Governor, and each of the US Senators for the State in question shall each be entitled to nominate a single delegate to represent the state at the resulting convention.    Do the math on how that would  potentially look.  So they have a convention, pass out the new "Union of Democratic Socialists etc" "constitution" complete with they them pronouns etc., and then they put it up for a "national popular vote, which being a constitutional vote, will entitle all persons within the borders of the US, legal or illegal, documented or undocumented, etc., to vote"

That's "all" it would take for that ember to torch the constitution.

But that's pretty fucking hard.  

More likely the Democrats will boil the frog some more.   If they ever get to having a majority or majority +5 of the states in which the D's have the Governor and both houses of the State Legislatures, then the constitutional convention scenario becomes a real worry.  

But most likely they'll boil the frog some more.   Those of us who know we're in the pot and that the burner is set on 'high' will freak the fuck out on the internet.   Most of the sheep in the Country won't notice until some of their neighbors or kids wind up floating belly up fully cooked.   But they it would be too late.

Don't have much confidence that there's anything good in the next 10 years.
