The theories espoused in the chapters described have been refuted.  The idea of a crustal shift, which assumes a solid, relatively homogeneous "shell" which shifts as a single element, has been supplanted by plate tectonics.  The wild theory of a "polar flip" is utter garbagefalse on its face, violating most of the accepted laws of physics (conservation of momentum chief among them).  Plate tectonics and gradual shift of continents relative to each other adequately describes the geolomagnetic evidence, and the shorter term climate changes, including the ice ages, are explained by better understanding of the various factors which can affect the long term climate of the Earth.
