What is the purpose of moving all the special interests out of GD?

You will get hardly any traffic? and many, like me, who start browsing in GD, would probably never see the posts. And, I love woodworking. As I get older I hope to get into it more, now that kid is almost gone and I have money and more time. In many ways, I wish I could have made a career out of woodworking.

You can ask a question and get a real answer instead of the typical hur-dur

you get in GD.

If I want a real answer ill find the sub forum and wait if need be. If my question isn't that important or I need a quick answer ill brave the slings and arrows if GD and post there.

But sometimes I dont need the bullshit, I just need an answer.

And your way would potentially miss 5,000 pairs of eyes viewing your question, and one of them is a SME.

How many times have you heard it exclaimed that arfcom has an expert for everything? It's shocking the level of expertise that exists in this group, on nearly any subject matter.

Finally, who cares if some people post bullshit in your thread? All that does is keep your thread active and on the first page, ensuring more people see your question.

I have a single thread in the Do It Yourself forum that has 146 replies and 4768 views as of now, in just at 6 months since the original post.

Let's look at some other forums that were approved, along with the ENTIRE replies for that forum:

Homeschooling & Parenting - 438
Grooming and Haberdashery - 4461
Mountain and Road Bicycles - 1221
Shaving - 3624
SciFi / Fantasy - 1548

I can go on. My single thread has more replies that all the replies combined in Homeschooling & Parenting.

I'm not sure how much more evidence I can provide that a Woodworking forum would be highly desired and utilized.

The Do It Yourself forum is full of topics about autos/tractors, tree felling, batteries, A/C units, etc.

Woodworking should be its own forum.

I think this is simply unmonitored. We have a 3d printing group, but not a dedicated woodworking group.

Here is a link to the thread that helped get this idea moving this forward. GB has responded and we are getting some traction. Not sure how it will go, but we can't say we did not try.
