I'm a millennial and can do all of that. You do realize that the oldest millennials are almost 40 right? I'm pretty sure every millennial learned how to write cursive in school.

They're zoomers, OP. Stop shitting on millenials. Millenials are adults with houses and careers.

We used to play Euchre every day at recess in the winter or when it was raining. I practiced for hours one night at home on how to shuffle and bridge just to fit in.
We were masters of "speed Euchre" and to this day my wife hates being my partner because I 'play to fast.' We had it to where within the first two tricks it was pretty well decided who was going to get a point, or if it was clear we might have to play it out in order for someone to finish their loner hand or get set. |

They just perpetually associate "Millenial" (or "millenium" in this thread) with anyone who is in their late teens or early 20's at any given time. They haven't caught up to the fact that kids who weren't alive when 9/11 happened can now legally fuck each other, enlist, and buy long guns. |

My middle son is 23 and was taught cursive. According to him, nearly all forms of written communication is in print (text, email, internet) and cursive just isn't practical any longer. Can't say I could really counter his argument very effectively.

Wrong generation OP.... Had to have perfect cursive on spelling tests to get the words right. Not only can I change oil, I work on trucks for a living. That’s right boomer, I can drive an 18 speed You did get one thing right though. I can’t shuffle cards worth a crap!

Gen X
Cursive is a waste of time Pencils are awful Wish, I could shuffle cards but I’m terrible at it Can change oil, but prefer to pay someone else for the hassle - motorcycles I’ll do, no lift needed, fuck lying on concrete |

Of all the dumb shit going on in the world and people fret over cursive.

I turn 35 this year, considered an old millennial, and learned/grew up with all of that. I remember those little plastic rhombus shaped cases to carry the .5 pencil lead. I felt well equipped having that in my back pack, which also carried my trapper-keeper.

Technological literacy peaked with the Oregon Trail generation. A lot of people in their late 20's-mid 30's are as useless with tech as the stereotypical non-tech boomer.

They are pushing 40 now... we can call off the 'You dumb kids' attack. Xer here...

Can we nominate this for "Most Boomer Post of the Month"?
Do you even know what a millennial is? |
|
Lol cursive is the dumbest shit ever.
I haven't used it in 20 years. Idk why it was even ever taught. How about we trade cursive for personal finance |

View Quote Born in 84, still write in cursive when I'm writing in my journal or notes. We're the cross over generation, from outdoors all day to Nintendo, from phone booths to pagers, to cell phones while still having land lines, as well as the good old dial T.V.s with antana box's so we didn't have to adjust the Antana manually lol. As well as from boom boxs and tapes to cd's and many of us still had parents with 8 track players and records all over. |

Tell us more about rebuilding carburetors and 1911 knock down power...

"Millenniums"
38 yr old millennial here that does know how to write in cursive but can't shuffle worth a damn. |

Millennial
Grew up without a cell phone or a computer until my teens. Rotary phone use all the time. VHS tapes, pencil sharpeners, and cursive were the norm in my formative years. It’s a fairly misused adjective IMHO |
|
I can't wait until 20 years from now when Boomers are bitching about Millennials who are still in high school.
|
|
Dang 15 year old, still in high school, haven’t gotten their first car yet Millennials
|
|
I can write cursive, although finding a translator may prove difficult.

I'll echo what everybody else is saying and add that all we did in the Army, before smart phones where invented, was drink and play cards. I'm a millennial and I can shuffle cards with the best of them.

I'm 26 and I write exclusively in cursive.
Can't shuffle cards for shit though. |
|
I'm a millennial
I pretend I'm glued to my phone so people don't piss me off as much |

Shuffling cards takes practice and dexterity. Took a a while before I could do it when I was a kid.
There is a serious problem with millennials and hand dexterity. So much so that most of them fail basic dexterity tests for a manufacturing job. They can’t even hand tighten or insert a bolt or attach a nut. Even after training they fail the basic tests of can you do this job. It’s a very serious problem. |

View Quote This isn’t incorrect. At 34, most people in my small graduating class did anything other than computer related careers. Shit, I was so frustrated with not being able to troubleshoot simple computer issues I used YouTube a couple winters ago to learn how to build my own PC just to understand software/hardware basics. This winter is the one that I become increasingly frustrated with my continued lack of software knowledge and try and improve that. I feel the school system I was sent through didn’t emphasize teaching tech basics near as much as they should have. ETA: Typos |

OP walked to school in six feet of snow and 90 degree heat up hills both way, and enjoys yelling at clouds.

Old end of millennial here. I am pretty good with working on cars, running a saw, general diy, and own my own fuck ups. I am not a snob for fancy beers and don't wear a fedora or a man bun. I have been working since 15 and out of mom and dad's since 18. I should have been born a few years earlier as I fit in better with those stereotypes.
I have 2 millennial achilles heels. I hate cards/can't shuffle them and can't operate without gps. I've always been bad with directions and orientation when driving. I used to print out to and from map quest directions almost everywhere. Thank God I don't have to do that. I can't even say my issue was caused by becoming dependent on technology, I have been missing those brain cells since I was born. I can read a map and navigate using it for some reason, but it's two effort to get home if I had to make more than about 5 turns. Otherwise consider myself a somewhat intelligent guy, iq was 147 last I checked. Dunno wtf is wrong with me, lol. |
