Winston was fond of his dram, which didn't necessarily make him a sot. Loved him some beef welly, too.

"Yes, I am drunk but you are ugly and in the morning I shall be sober but you will still be ugly."

All of his faults and quirks were more than offset by the leadership he showed in the dark days of WWII.  There was probably no other person in country who could have kept Great Britain in the war and led them to victory.  He wasn't the man England wanted, but he was exactly the man they needed.

That video could've gone without the white/English guilt bullshit at the end, but otherwise a good as always Indy presentation.

Winston Churchill like many of his era used morphine and heroine. He used heroine lozenges a lot in ww2. Pics of his scripts And lozenge tins are out there.

It doesn’t make him any less in my eyes, it was a normal thing until the 1960s and beyond

Churchill's drinking habits have been endlessly debated.  Like most thinks Churchillian, a certain amount of exaggeration has become the norm.  Yes, he drank, probably a lot, and by current standards more than he should have.  For his time I don't think his drinking was anything out of the ordinary.  FDR enjoyed a cocktail as well, apparently was a pretty good bartender.

Wow. The revisionism is strong here.
