Because my heeler is enough dog to handle by himself, and he doesn't like other dogs anyway.

I do and I love her and consider her my child. She’s 7 years old now and After she’s gone I’ll never own another GSD. She is absolutely perfect except the shedding. I never realized a dog could shed so much hair.

Would like to get another one but my Husky wouldn't handle a strange dog in the home.

I'm not home enough to make having a dog a worthwhile experience for either of us.
Cats are ok, though. |

Because I like Dobermans more. GSD's are awesome, but the shedding is too much for me.

That is an awesome pic! My reason for not having a GSD is fairly straight forward and I am not sure why I have to keep posting pictures of him. We all know Belgian Malinois are the kings of working dogs. Mine likes to scale service loaners. Attached File |

I have one; she’s 3 and the whole family absolutely loves her. Amazing alarm for anything that gets on the property. I told
My wife we should have named her Velcro because she never leaves your sight except when it’s bedtime and her lazy ass moves from her living room bed to one of the kids bedrooms to sleep with them. The only irritating thing is the hair.....I don’t know how it is possible to lose that much hair and not be bald. Also, she learned very quickly how to open the doors and let herself out. Not a big deal but I think out of spite she refuses to learn to close them. |

I do have one and it's because the infected ears, the infected anal glands, poop that looks like I own a cow and the massive amounts of hair are all worth it to have a dog that looks and acts like a dog.

I have a german Shepherd/lab mix, but you couldn't tell if she has lab in her except the ears are a bit more floppy than a GS.
All white except for a faint tan line down her back. She also hates anyone outside the family. She wasn't well socialized when younger (rescue). Gets along well with the cats, and will give them baths if they allow. She does get jealous when the cats play, and tries to barge in. |

I have a lab that has a job. He finds me things to shoot, then I shoot them, then he brings them back. He will swim out into a river in January (here in Michigan) to retrieve a goose. He will quietly slip through the forest to find me grouse. He found, flushed, and retrieved 19 of 20 pheasants we turned loose on a preserve a couple weeks ago.
I would take a good hunting lab over any other breed. |

Adopted her from our local GSD rescue. Just over 3 months old and 25 lbs. Super protective of her pack and listens very well (she's all ears!)

They are great dogs for some people and households. The best dog, in some ways.
But not for me. |

I want a GSD puppy pretty bad, but I'm convinced it would be too high maintenance for my family. My wife, bless her heart, already has her hands full with three kids under 10 years old. She also just isn't good at dog training or being consistent in managing doggy behaviors. I work all day...so she would, in effect, ruin the puppy. LOL.
And she used to want a GSD...but now she wants a Collie and thinks that will be a "breeze" compared to a GSD. I do not want a collie. I want something big and strong with a protection instinct. So I guess we won't be getting anything. |

too much work travel to have a dag.
can't afford to buy/rent a house with suitable yard for a dag. |

Always on duty, unbelievably loyal and devoted, naturally protective, and a blast to have around. Worth the hair and the lawn mines any day. |
