Assange is a Russian agent. Snowden is a spy for a foreign power. Neither of these guys are heroes.

Quoted: Because they revealed crimes committed against all of us. View Quote Not really, David Petraeus told people what was going in open testimony before Congress (granted he didn't use classified materiel). Snowden could have gone public to the NYT or WaPo. He could have had the same balls as Daniel Ellsburg. He could have fled the US without the computer data instead of handing it off to the Russians and Chinese. How much of what Assange does is a disinformation operation? Why do people cheer a foreign intelligence operative? |

Quoted: Because they revealed crimes committed against all of us. View Quote I only wish Trump would have pardoned them both. Someone here said in a thread that Trump did not pardon them because Turtle threatened to pursue impeachment in the Senate. No proof was provided, however, that Turtle said this. Also, is there a statute of limitations under law for Snowden and Assange? |
|
|
No, they fled to avoid prosecution and that puts the kibosh on any statute of limitations.

Assange is perhaps the world’s greatest advocate for free speech and freedom of the press.
Snowden exposed unbelievable criminality and abuse of citizens’ rights at the hands of their own government. Whatever else you might say of him, that outweighs it IMO. Stop blaming everything on Russia, you sound like a goddamn democrat. INB4 Josh yells at us to read the HPSCI report in Snowden? Because I have, it’s garbage, just like every disgusting swamp creature in Washington. |

Quoted: Snowden threads around here pit brother against brother. The Snowden haters are wrong though. View Quote He's a punk and a chump. He was likely played by an entrenched agent and used as a bagman for a higher placed mole. He probably regrets every day of his life sitting in Russia. I hope he ends up as miserable as Kim Philby. |

Better question...
Why does the OP trust what the govt says about Assange and Snowden? |
|
|
Heroes of the people. Traitors to the establishment. Simple as.
Don't forget Ulbricht either. |

Because the news would have been bigger then pee pads and knee pads coronation.

Snowden = wrong thing for the right reasons.
Assange = right thing for the right reasons. The charges against him are nothing less than fake. If you got a problem with someone sharing information that he didn't initially obtain, you got a brain problem. Ideas and information are not illegal. Neither of them are evil, UNLIKE SOME PARDONED RECENTLY. Snowden is fine where he is. He did the American public a service ultimately I think, but he's fine where he is. |

As much as I hate what Snowden did, I hate the big.gov leaders who made it necessary.

I mean...not so much on the guns part (shotguns fairly easy, rifles take years, pistols no go....legally anyway - I've heard rumors of being able to get MP40s and Papashas if you know the right farmer out in the hinterlands) But yeah, living in SPB or Moscow wouldn't be bad except for shit medical care. Food is top notch, so are the parks and outdoors stuff. Anyway, I'm with you. These guys exposed crimes committed by our government against us. RR_Broccoli's post above I think is a fair summary. |

One thing I can count on is if the government says somebody is bad it’s definitely true.

Quoted: Because they revealed crimes committed against all of us. View Quote People forget, or don’t want to acknowledge, that Snowden didn’t just out domestic intelligence operations, he also outed a lot of intelligence operations against hostile foreign powers and put many operatives’ lives at risk and cut off crucial sources of intelligence. Revealing the former doesn’t give him a pass for also revealing the latter. Assange put out anything and everything that could make America look bad. That was his mission. We wasn’t speaking for us, or protecting us against our government, his mission was to embarrass and weaken America. Most of the stuff he posted had nothing to do with domestic stuff. Again, the little he did reveal that might be popular here hardly makes up for all of the other stuff that he put out to damage America. People just look at a small slice of what they actually put out and decided they are heroes, and ignore the rest. Both need to answer for their crimes. |

Lol, majority here defend Trump, but want those two to rot in hell.
Some if not most of the stuff said about them can be said for trump. (Ps, I voted for trump and I’m in seat 87 of the trump train so suck it.) |

Snowden is one of those gray area subjects, Assange is not, he's been railroaded from the start because he pissed off the powers that be. |

some people believe in free speech and don't think it's ok for the government to simply not tell you about what they're doing in hopes that sweeping it under the rug makes it more acceptable.

If you made $40-50k or so you could live quite nicely in the big cities- again, with the exception of medical care and of course you're living in a form of dictatorship. |
