In several decades of drinking, I’ve never had any urge or desire to drink cognac. I mean, I have done it. I’ve even drank Calvados, though why you’d do that twice is a mystery to me.
In general, every liquor store I’ve ever been in carries cognac and brandy, yet I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been in a house where they had even one bottle of cognac or brandy. Who is buying this stuff and why? |

First and last time you drank brandy I ended up puking into a hand towel and I put it back on the rack

Do you have any 'colored' friends there in Texas?
And Hennessy isnt that bad... just not my first choice of drink. |
|
I have a bottle of Korbel brandy on my bar. Nothing too fancy.
|
|
I bought a bottle last year to make a batch of Altons Egg Nog.

Proof positive that targeted ads are effective. Hennessy made ads with a prominent black actor sipping their product while being cool, black folks thrive on cool. Same thing for Colt 45 and Black & Mild cigars, they eat that shit up. I wonder who did the original fried chicken ads, bet they made a killing.

Taking their clam shells with shiny, gaudy objects. Same as it ever was.

I can't lie... I like straight brandy every once in a while.
I don't think I've ever had hennessy or any other of it's ilk... how is it different from brandy? |
|
Heard a statistic last December that WI drinks like 80% of the nations brandy... i'm sure they stock it for us out-of-staters

The first time I ever heard of it, there was a gentleman offering shots to people in line at an amusement park.
The gentleman was of the African American variety. |
|
I was at a Total Wine the other day in Connecticut and witnessed an aspiring cancer cure researcher purchase Hennessy.

Back when I, uh, knew such people...I got a bottle of homemade brandy from a couple of crazy guys up north. Mixed magnificently with Sprite. I imagine similar spirits would mix just as well.
Also, users on the local PD Facebook group have recommended baiting bear traps with Hennessy and Korbel to catch felons. |

Every good/bad night starts or hits a breaking point with Hennessy.

|
I'll drink that bottle of Hennessey you got on your shelf.
I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom. |
|
Me and my Viet friends. Drinking some Courvoisier Napoleon and Mexican Coke now.

|
Alot of the Vietnamese communities in America serve it at special occasions like Tet/New Year's.
It's not bourbon I can tell you that. |
|
I like a certain cognac. It's half the price of Hennessy but amazing. I've yet to return to the scene of discovery to ask what the fuck it was. The legend may not live up to the hype. Safe thread.

|
Actually hennessy with Sprite or 7up ain't terrible.
I prefer bourbon. |
|
One time my friends and I mixed a bottle of henessy and a bottle of hynotique together and drank it.

I've had it. Didn't leave much of an impression. I like whiskey.

If you've never had a glass of really good cognac and an excellent cigar, you have missed out on one of life's better experiences.

Drank Hennessy privilege, Martel blue swift, balvinie, and McCallan today. Was a good day, Saints won, and the guys got together.

Cocktail
+ Steak with a good Cabernet + Remy VSOP = Feeling good for the evening Cognac isn't meant to be guzzled, which is why it's served as a small quantity in a snifter. It also pairs well with an after dinner cigar if you're into that. |

All of the black people I know drink Henny.
I remember a while back a black feller was telling a group of us that they also like to dip their blunts into it and then smoke them after it has dried. I find it funny when I see it locked up in a special case in the liqueur stores that happen to have a certain demographic within driving distance. |

brandy is a different drinking experience than other liquors. it's more like drinking wine (and not just for the obvious reasons).

Quoted: . That’s actually what inspired the question. I had been making it half-whiskey, half-rum; but this year I decided to try to follow the recipe exactly to see if it made a difference. View Quote |

I was at a liquor store a couple of weeks ago that had a bottle of Highland Park scotch locked up in a case. $4,995 for that bottle. A 750ml.
Highland Park is decent but wtf? |

I did the exact recipe last year and it turned out pretty good. Maybe I've found something to do tomorrow... View Quote |

Purchased one of the better bottles of Hennessey one time, and don't remember who I ended up giving it to. Otherwise it was going to be thrown away. I do however, always keep a bottle of Metaxa on hand.
