I'm still using my 2010 Breezer Thunder Pro. I have ~9K miles on it now since it's my daily commuter as well.
I keep thinking I should buy a 29'er but I can't justify the cost for what I use my bike for. I just replaced the chain, cassette, grips with Odi's (can't ever go back to crappy ones now), brake pads, and changed fluid in the fork. It has a Thompson Elite seat post and I just put a Fizik Antares F3 Open saddle on it which replaced my original Fizik Antares. Attached File |

Quoted: I still ride my custom 2000 GT Avalanche. By custom, I mean it was designed for me, by GT, before they (and Schwinn) sold out to Pacific. You won't find another one like it. The frame was a one off 13.9". https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/337946/10464035_10101383603764127_3059572940847801203_n-557867.jpg View Quote I wish I could get by with even a 15" frame. I really need at lest a 22", however, the Breezer is a 21". I had to order the seatpost special so that it was long enough to allow me to fit the bike yet leave enough tube in the frame. |

I still have my old KHS 504... but it's the least accessible of my bikes and I haven't ridden it in a long time. I did replace the front fork when I couldn't get a rebuild kit for the original one, and that wasn't too long ago.
When I'm on a MTB, I'm usually on my Marin Nail Trail 29er. It's slower on the top end, and faster on the bottom end, thanks to it's 1x11 drivetrain... but it does MOST of what I need it to, and I really don't do as much MTB'ing as I used to. It being a fairly slow bike means it rides with the fam well, also. The Roadies just don't want to go slow. |

Jamis 853 Dragon. Upgraded to disk wheels about 5 years ago and then bubba'ed the rear drop outs to fit a thru axle. Seems to work.

I haven't ridden the trails in years, but I use my 2011 Kona Kula to going bombing around town with the kids and to go on beer runs.

Quoted: I wish is was a 1x though. But I’ve looked into that, and unless I’m missing something, that’s $300-$400. For that price I’d rather buy a bike for a few hundred more. View Quote I've been looking into 1x and while I really wanted it for the simplicity I think I'm going to go with 2x on my next bike. I'm also a big guy at 220lbs so I'll probably stick with a 9-speed or 10-speed when the time comes too if at all possible since the components (chain and cassette mainly) are beefier as it doesn't take me long to stretch a chain currently with my 9-speed. |

Trying to decide if I want to upgrade to 27.5 or to 29. I feel like the 27.5 would be best because I’m not nearly the rider I was after not being on a bike for 20 years, and 27.5 would logically be closer to what I’m used to... is the 29 that much more benefit?

View Quote Been riding a 29 a lot lately and it definitely makes a difference in reducing rolling resistance and thus effort. At least it feels that way. The 26 feels more nimble but less stable at speed to me, especially in turns. Could be frame geometry too. Try to ride one before you buy. |
|

To me, a 26 is more nimble, a 29 is arguably more stable at speed.
I say arguably because they're both pretty stable. In my case, my 26 is full suspension and my 29 is front, so I feel a little more connected to the ground anyway. The 29 rocks when rolling over things. It's much better at that with the bigger wheels. Personally, I'd stay away from 27.5. The support just isn't there. 26 and 29... everyone's got it. 27.5... Unless you have a shop that stocks it locally, you're internet-buying everything. |

In my head I was counting on the opposite being true. So, yeah, probably best to try first. Yeah, I expected that too. It’s really a nimbleness issue. I just can’t make fast sharp adjustments with the 29. I think the general stability issue on a turn is more a tire problem. I feel like am going to have the bike slide out from under me on loose stuff turns. |

Free version has fun stuff so don't hesitate. I am (ColaBro Coruscant) The W is watts but it isn't correct on a MTB and on the road is really only close on climbs. (it doesn't take into account the added parasitic drag a MTB has or the bumps and grinds that come with being off road). It errs on the low side for the MTB and road bike. There are plug-ins if you use chrome that can give you data that is a bit better for the road. My guess would be my average wattage for this ride was around 180 if I compared the effort I put out against a road ride of the same effort. The app just looks at the total weight of the bike and rider (along with some aerodynamic drag modeling toss in and guessitmates) |

My 2013 Enduro was made the last year that Specialized offered any mountain bike with 26” rims. After riding my Nomad with 27.5” rims, I know why.

The tighter and nastier the trail, the more I like it. So, I'll stick with my XO built 26" Stumpy until I can't maintain it any more. I love that bike!

I have a Blur with a broken frame hanging in the shed. I'm still using the drivetrain, headset, brakes on a Surly frame I built, if that counts.

1984 Trek 830.
I don't care for mountain biking so it's just a bike, ridden mostly on pavement with some grass, dirt and gravel. I need to buy a new stem adapter since I pulled the old one for a different bike. My next project might be to slap on a set of Jones bars and single-speed this thing. Attached File |

My rig is a 1990 GT Outpost. Had it refurbished in 2013 with a new Shimano component set, replacing the original set. Center pull brakes and no suspension, not even the triple triangle design that came out a year or two later. I still ride it regularly. Very smooth bike, although heavy by today's standards. Chromoly frame. |

I have a Trek 950 I use for a beater bike. It's the one I don't mind locking to a tree on the side of a back country road until I can hike back to it.

I just bought an old used one, my first bike since 1990. At the time I had a 20" BMX and 26" MTB which was fine so I saw no need for a modern bike.
I got, best I can tell the year a 1993(I think)Stumpjumper in 26", no suspension. It's just a bike for me, but I do need some off-road ability. |

Ugh, try finding 26" tires and presta tubes right now; I'm actually considering converting them to tubeless. Luckily I found some new derailleur pulleys that'll work with my old Deore XT setup. I've got one that I discovered is cracked ; I've worn them out and damaged teeth but never seen one crack. Heck, lots of parts are just out of stock.

Can you mount disc brakes to the holes that the rear derailleur protector thing is mounted on? It has the same holes on the left side of the bike, so I'm wondering if that can be used to mount disc brakes. The fork doesn't have a mount point for them, so I'd have to buy a new fork.
