Weren’t a bunch deployed to various cities around the country?

Probably restrained from doing their jobs by politicians. The Guard can’t act on its own without orders from the Governor’s.

Have to be activated by the Governor of the State.  Blue state governors would never call them out when their people are mostly peacefully "demonstrating."  (Demonstrating arson, larceny and destruction of property).

Well, you see, burning and looting businesses was completely justifiable for
the institutional racism inherent in the system.

However, threatening and harassing the politicians that are actually responsible,
well, that's just wrong!!

Some were, usually after the first or second night of "unrest", but never as a deterrent.

Pretty sure a few Governors called them up.  We had them in downtown KC for a few days, IIRC.  I normally avoid downtown KC and the Plaza, so I didn't personally witness them on site.  But our riots weren't quite as severe as other cities.

But yes, I agree the 'handling' of the 'mostly peaceful protests' compared to last week's protest are night and day, and it disgusts me that some of the politicians that called for MAOR protests shit their pants when one showed up on their personal (tax payer provided) doorstep.

It's ok to destroy, loot, and burn when you are doing it because you're just a common criminal. But when you are politically motivated, it's terrorism.

Why would governors take action on anything when they could just point the finger and say “this is Trump’s America”. It was as political as the lockdowns. Look at all the leaders crying to open everything now. It’s disgusting, maddening, but just a game to them. We the people don’t matter. The only thing that matters is a political agenda and Trump was in the way.

I'm pretty happy with my boys. Here in St. Paul they stopped them from crossing the river from Minneapolis to march to the capital. Hey march to the capital that sounds familiar.

They were everywhere when they had a protest at the governors mansion. Our governor waited too long to call them yes, but they saved Saint Paul from a lot of damage. Some happened but not like Minneapolis.

After the second round of looting in Chicago last fall,

Chicago officials announced Monday morning that police would be placed on high alert, with 12-hour shifts and expanded patrols throughout the city after the Magnificent Mile downtown was attacked by organized looters overnight.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot stopped short, however, of calling for the National Guard, which had been used to protect the downtown area after an initial wave of riots in late May. There was no mention of federal law enforcement, either.

Lightfoot, standing alongside Governor J.B. Pritzker, said that “both of us believe this is not an incident that requires the National Guard. … We do not need federal troops in Chicago. Period. Full stop.
https://www.breitbart.com/crime/2020/08/10/chicago-police-on-alert-but-no-national-guard-after-looters-ransack-downtown/ The previous "deployment" of troops saw them laagered at McCormick Place, a lakeside convention center well south of the loop.

Macy's and Gap are both leaving the Mag Mile in Chicago.  Macys alone consists of  170,000-square-feet of retail space. The total numbers for the Michigan ave and city as a whole are gravely worse.

And, why were Antifa and Burn-Loot-Murder not called domestic terrorists like the capitol protesters are? How many hundreds of millions of dollars in damage did they do last summer?  How many buildings and city blocks were destroyed?  How long did they hold the entire center of a city hostage while creating their own lawless "autonomous zone"?

It's all being done to paint conservatives in a negative light and to provide a false reason to enact a Patriot Act 2.0 that focuses inwardly on the citizens this time instead of foreign threats, and the fact that all of us aren't still protesting about it is a shame.

But now they have what they want.....everyone too nervous to do anything that might be deemed "violent", like chanting outside a building.

EDIT:  I see most of this has already been posted.  But doesn't hurt to say it again.

Because they were 1000s of miles away from congress and company when the riots were happening, but now they are scarred and need protecting.  They never gave a shit about anyone in those zones.

I walked in on a conversation at work the other day when a NG guy I work with was telling another guy that:

"If they declare martial law the 1 or 2 star general in charge of that area will be in charge.  Not the cops, not even the president.  If they tell us "nobody can be out after 9" we'll warn people at first but after that we can light them up and not get in trouble for it!  *shrugs* Hey man our orders say nobody out after 9.  You don't have to go to sleep but you gotta be inside with your door locked by 9 or we're at least gonna handcuff you and you're gonna disappear."

Me:  So...you're just following orders?  There were other people in history who were just following orders too.

NG guy: Yeah the nazis but this wouldn't be like that.  We don't care what race you are.  Anybody outside would get it.

They were destroying Private Businesses, homes, cars, trucks, and threatening the lives of and in some cases taking the lives of lowly serfs.

In DC, they were attacking the elites turf, the elites lives.

It's different.

False Equivalence? You are a deep thinker OP!

So our country should let protestors stop the election process and transfer of power thats part of our constitutional process any time they want, no questions asked? LOL. Get fucking real. This false equivalence argument is so intellectually dishonest it's fucking laughable and pathetic. The national guard is in D.C. to safe guard the government buildings and the constitutional processes, which seems like a pretty straight forward thing they would do if called upon.

I don't see why a governor needs to activate the Guard to help out with policing a city anyways, seems pretty heavy handed and authoritarian but you are obviously into that sort of shit.

The 'Peacefully' protestors in KC got turned back when they headed for the Carriage and KC Country Clubs. Then after arrests the cretins that run KCMO, Mayor Lucas and the goons on the City Council released most, if not all of rioters. The person who has received the brunt of criticism has been Honkey police Chief Smith.

No. The national guard is in D.C. to keep the peasants out of the palace, so they don't crawl on the ground soiling themselves in fear again.
