Everywhere I look for a vacation home outside the U.S. with ocean front property seems to have a significant crime problem, particularly with regard to burglary and murder.
Either that or I have to look in the E.U., which is a total non-starter, because they will arrest you for saying mean things. Is there anywhere? I'm starting to think there is not. |

There is a reason cheap beach front property exists.
Chose 2 Cheap Beach front property Safe ETA wrong number I'm stupid |

I would think Croatia (europe) and Panama (central) be among the best total values but probably not the cheapest.

Costa Rica? When I was last there, it was a bunch of American Ex-pats and retired people.

Southwestern India.
Miles and miles of coconut trees and white sand beaches. Only people are some local fishing villages that will stare at you because they think you’re a celebrity. They’ve only seen white people in the movies. Don’t think you can actually own land, however. Not sure how many countries actually allow foreigners to ‘own’ property. |

I have a waterfront property for sale on a carribean island, think there was one lovers quarrel that someone got dead last year but pretty crime free place. Women do no look like Croatians.

Looked into it. Almost every country has shittier property owning laws for non natives and can take it with little due process.
If I wanted to do that I would spend the money on an investment account in another market (like Swiss). Use the interest/dividends to spend time all over. You can rent ocean front for a few hundred a month some places so it wouldn’t take a huge nut to do this. |
|
If I had to leave the US, I'd aim for Croatia. I've been more than once, and I'd go again. |
|
Bahamas. Abaco, Exumas, ??
Its expensive but violent crime is not all that common. Turks and Caicos. Edit: you’re getting broken into no matter where you go. |

Costa Rica is really safe.
There are many more but my jam is CR. |

Norway has some beautiful beach front property. Not sure if you will want to go swimming though. Hypothermia optional.
|
|
Some of the beach property in Brazil is cheap.
After spending some time down there, I have a spot that I would like to live. I'd say India, Thailand, or the surrounding area should be cheap as hell. |

Ambergris Caye
You can find good deals here. The crime is not bad. The cost is reasonable. It is quick to get back to the US. Lots of Canadian expats live there. |
|
I would do Croatia in a minute. Adriatic is beautiful, felt safe on the islands or mainland.
Depending where you are there seems to be a lot of Germans, but I think that’s mostly on the north. |
|
Take a lesson from the Chinese... build your own island.
You can subdivide to pay for the costs. Or start your own country, declare war on the US, immediately surrender, then demand foreign aid to rebuild. |

Croatia (throw in Montenegro and Serbia as well) is one of the nicest places I've visited in Europe, and I've been all over. Crystal clear water, beautiful coastlines, friendly people, and low cost of living. However, due to Russians buying up everything in sight, they have made foreign ownership of property more difficult.

Not at all, i talk to my family there all the time. Their constitution has changed lots of times; its not like here in the US. Basically, some stuff had to change. For example, when getting a bank loan -- they ask for references; like "who do you know". Which is crazy. And i agree -- thats BS. So if you're not from a good family of name, you cannot get a home loan or business loan or get into a good school. And that stuff needed to change. Sort of like "no more descrimination" by name. I wont say race as there are only white euro-latin folks there. When i grew up there, i didnt see a black person the first 14 years of my life. |

After falling in love with Jamaica decades ago we looked at buying a place there. Money and location was right. THEN we started thinking about what happens if we couldn't get there. Soon after fuel prices spiked, airline tickets spiked and,,,,AA cancelled flights and we would not have been able to go. Dodged a bullet. Just sayin.

Quoted: Murder rate per capita is 3x that of the US. Taxes are insane and forget "affordable" cars. Residency is difficult unless you are rich. Property has to be guarded 24/7. Most expensive country in Central America. Unemployment hitting 50%. Pandemic restrictions have destroyed the economy and tourism, which is the same thing. Energy costs are insane. Somalia..
Beautiful country Beaches low crime rate. People are very generous and trustworthy. |

My sister has a bungalow a block from the beach in Malta.
Nice area, but touristy. We haven’t been there for almost a year. Hope it’s still there. |
