I’m sure in my lifetime there will be a push for a more “inclusive” flag.
The MN state flag will be changed soon enough since it depicts a farmer ploughing his farm and an Indian riding west. |

A redesign would be worth exploring at least. I'm of the "a child should be able to draw it" mentality when it comes to flags. Once we got past 13 states we should have thought about something other than adding stars.

Trick with DC is it would take a Constitutional Amendment to create it. DC is carved out in Article I, Section 8, Clause 17
"The Congress shall have Power To… exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States… (The U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 8, Clause 17)." It only takes 13 states to block it. |

White stars and white stripes are racist. The red came from the skin color of the indigenous peoples the land was stolen from. The blue is a memorial to the blue skies and blue water poisoned by the white man. A red flag with a sickle and the gavel of the heroic speaker of the house would be more appropriate.
