Found this in my gun safe, must've gotten from my grandfather years ago. I know it says a dollar, but know nothing else about it. Wondered what kind value it might have? Beyond a dollar for all the smart alec answers!

Have a stack of those in my safe.
In recent years the numismatic value has gone down significantly. They're actually worth more as scrap. Which is about a dollar coincidentally. |

Thanks, not looking to sell was just curious. My grandpa and I spent a lot of time together fishing, looking at his coin and stamp collection. Have a ton of mint proof sets he got me and commerative coins.

Found this neat one, bet our mint will never issue such a thing again. Even found a Nixon peace coin.

Don't clean it or polish it., The stamp collection has almost no value . Mint and proof sets vary a lot from year to year.

View Quote Yeah, my 80yo FIL is trying to unload a bunch of common silver coins he collected over the years. Wants me to put them on eBay and he labeled everything with "values" he got out of coin books..... basically retail. He's going to be sorely disappointed. |

Keeping it all, unless of course it had a value of a grand or more...

View Quote It's been a long time since I've seen anyone selling Morgan dollars for less than $20 each. I'd love to know where you're getting them for about a dollar. |

I bought a Morgan dated 1879 just to have a coin that much older than I am. I'm not a collector by any measure, just thought it was neat. I also have a 3-cent nickel, and a coin from Germany dated 1699, the 1/3 Thaler

I paid 50 cents for the last Morgan Silver dollar I bought, and that was at a coin show.
And yes, it's real. Nothing underhanded or sleazy either. |
