So, I've been fortunate enough to have an unexpected "gun budget" coming my way soon. I'm setting aside $1000 for some fun.

I've been wanting to get a 10/22 Charger Takedown, drop it into a new stock and add a pistol brace for a bit, but I've lately been thinking of perhaps going big and getting some type of FAL?

I know nothing about the FAL, but am not opposed to building one if the work involved in headspacing and rebarreling the receiver won't be prohibitive.

So, between those two, what says the hive? One would leave me with money left over, and the FAL... Could I buy/build for 1k or less?

If going the 10/22 takedown rout get a suppressor for it.

I'm liking the idea of a Charger take down.

With a bbl/can combination the length of the receiver/folded brace combination.

Might be fun

Yeah, definitely would add a can to the 10/22 down the road, and hopefully eventually SBR it.

Anyone for the FAL? Someone talk me into it instead.

Life without an FAL is chaos and sorrow. Parts kits are around $575 and receivers around $400 last I looked. Twisting it up and headspacing are pretty easy, but do require some special tools. Complete rifles are available from DSA but they're spendy, I think mine was $1700 or so.

OAL is over 26" as well, so a VFG should be gtg.

Don't do a damn thing for a few weeks anyway...

SKIDtactical, Shockwave Blade, and PMACA all told me they had special 10/22 Charger projects that were waiting to be released in April and May.

Unfortunately no details...just that everyone seems to be waiting for April-May and everyone is targeting Ruger Charger specific applications.

Everyone is jumping on the Copper Customs bandwagon.
