In light of gas prices going up, what MPG you packing?
2001 Honda CR-V awd. EPA rates it at 25mpg highway, 21 average but I get 28-29 on winter gas average, but I drive pretty softly. I've never actually had a car that "only" gets what the EPA says it should come to think of it |
My car is rated at 18 city, 26 highway.
I presumably get less than that, because I pretty much permanently have it is Sport mode, which is a more efficient way in converting premium gas into noise and fun. My old Mustang got about 6 miles to the gallon. |
My EcoDiesel Grand Cherokee gets a little over 32 MPG highway, 21 around town.
My truck is 17 MPG highway and 13 MPG around town. |
I routinely got 29-32 avg mpg in my 2011 Kia Soul pre-COVID.
Now with driving less and working from home, more driving is local so I'm down around 27-30 avg mpg. But I just went almost a whole year on a single oil change, so there's that. |

2016 Colorado Duramax.
55k miles, 27.9 combined per the on board computer. Probably more towards low 27s when I do the math on actual gallons pumped to miles driven. Saw as high as 36mpg on a trip, refueled warm, drove 400 miles. |
Happy if I break 10. Usually around 9.7. About 4 in the Jeep.
11.9 mpg dreaming of when I used to get 14.5 mpg.
But the Jeep still has the same tank of gas from March of last year. |
06 Silverado with the HO 6.0, 10-11 using 93.
Still cheaper than a payment. |

Quoted: My EcoDiesel Grand Cherokee gets a little over 32 MPG highway, 21 around town. My truck is 17 MPG highway and 13 MPG around town. View Quote Amazing what the extra aerodynamics of the Cherokee give you. Wife’s EcoRam averages about 22 around town though last road trip we got 26 one way 28 the other. ETA: I’ve seen as good as 20 in my excursion since I started calculating it the meters been as high as 23. Though with my around town type driving 16 is more the average. Not bad for the largest SUV produced. |
2017 F150 with a level and heavy 35s, 16.7 average since I put them on, mostly commuting.
77 C10 350/TH350 gets 10-12
98 XJ 4.0 five speed gets 16 daily driving but 20 highway 95 Civic coupe 1.5L 5 speed gets 40 without even trying. I can squeeze 45 easy and 48 if I really try. |
2017 F150 FX4 on 33"s, 3.5EB; 21mpg driven not so lightly. Still better than my 2006 F150 with a 5.4L that has seen mileage fall from 17 to 15 over the past couple years.

'20 Kia Forte rated 31 city/ 40 highway. We get 40.4 in overall driving
My 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser w/296,000 miles on it averages 17.3 mpg.
2020 Elantra GT - 30->31 mpg semi rural w/ 4 snow tires and extra weight in the back. Haven't tried an exclusively highway trip but hoping for at least 35 with summer tires and A/C on.
05 V8 Full-time 4wd 4runner 15.5 mpg
17 Camry 4 cylinder 33 mpg |
Now they know what all you terrorists drive and how far you can travel on a tank of gas.

2015 Chevrolet 2500HD CC 4wd Duramax and if I drive it at 65mph on the hwy (very rare) it will get right at 20-21mpg. At my normal hwy driving speeds it is closer to 17mpg. 14-15 around town depending on how much it idles. With the 32' GN trailer 9-12 depending on the terrain and load.
2016 Jeep JKU on 35's with 4:10 gears. 13-15mpg around town and maybe 15-16 on the HWY though we rarely take on very far on the open road. It has gone to Colorado 4x, Moab, Arkansas, South Texas and Oklahoma but always on a trailer behind the Duramax. My classics don't get driven enough to get an accurate reading. We are taking the '65 Mustang on Rocky Mountain Race Week but have no idea with the new combo. 550hp 427W, 5 speed and 3:80 gears. Maybe 10-12? |
13 to 15
It's supposed to be higher, but my truck is always loaded with stuff. |
