Raiders, huh?  Interesting for it being an old movie.

Maverick was pretty cool but I think Everest was probably better.

King Kong -- the base effects during the big Kong verse lizard fight can shift the foundation

War of the Worlds -- the base effects of the monster's machines breaking out of the city and some of their attacks is very impressive.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon -- has some wonderful 3-D audio effects if you have the full ceiling array. There's a memorable fight scene in a bamboo forest with whistling arrows that is especially well done.

I'd say a good war movie would do it - like "Saving Private Ryan" or "Fury" ...  but a good combat submarine movie is even better because sounds are amplified and intensified - like "U571", or "Crimson Tide" or "The Boat"

Oh - one more:  "War Horse"

Saving Private Ryan beach battle scene at the beginning.   I still remember seeing it in the theater and  the surround sound was incredible.

This and only this.

Whenever we complete a media room install, the first calibration movie is Saving Private Ryan's beach scene.

When we turn the system over to the owner, we replay that scene for the demo.

If you're not feeling it in your chest, you're wrong. Owner's always have a shit eating grin when it's playing.

Best scene to show off the sound system is in predator when they do the mini gun jungle mag dump trying to hit predator. Crank it up and enjoy

Could be my system but it wasn’t as impressive as I was expecting.  Other movies, mostly newer ones, sound much better.

My problem is I hate Tom Hanks movies.  Only one I care much about is Captain Phillips.

In terms of actually having a crazy level of sound engineering, the new Bladerunner utilizes Atmos far more than most anything else.

Dune is a solid choice too.

You just want to blow someone's eardrums; sure, any of the above listed movies. But realistically most movies barely take advantage of the high end codecs and features out there nowadays (because so few people have systems capable of really showing it off). You're lucky to get more than a scene or two of 3d audio in most flicks.

Honestly the (free) atmos demos blow most people's minds if your system is well set up.

Too bad he played a sympathetic Captain Phillips instead of the real life arrogant asshole Phillips.
