Dropped out of high schol 2 weeks before graduation in 1989. Had a job offer too good to pass up.

Bought a 1990 Nissan 4wd truck new for $9999 with my bonus. 1992 Took  A month long vacation in AK. Bought a new Mustang GT. Things were easier then for me at least. Money coming in hand over fist. Had a motorola bag phone in my truck lol.

Then I went to college and it was normal college stuff.Attachment Attached File

The war in Yugoslavia…crime in the shitholes that are and were American inner cities (it peaked in 1995 then began to decline).  I was born in 1988, had a fair amount of happy memories then, and plenty of shit I went through too.  I think the terrible quality of my life since 2018 has just made me very bitter.

Fun little fact.  The 1997 North Hollywood shootout was “inspired” by this movie.  The shooters were inspired by it.

I watched that movie as a kid.  That scene when, I think it was the copilot, goes and mans the tailgun or a side gun, shoots down the German fighter, which slams through another B17’s tail, and they can hear the radio operator screaming as it goes down still haunts me.

He may have been the radio operator on the Memphis Belle.

Being a teenager. Music. Freedom. Lack of electronics.

The last few years have honestly been depressing, in a worldly-overlook kind of way. Nothing ever seems to get better, and at every outlet everyone is always fighting over some stupid shit, seeminly grasping for power. And even if things do get better, someone is just around the corner to fight about that too and have some absurd opinion on it. Watching the msm and ignorant folks wig out about covid was the icing on the cake.

I'd just as soon go live in some rural area, go to work, come home, and not give a shit about anything, do the things I want to do, and avoid all the drama and bullshit. But no, all the assholes out there just can't leave people alone.

Agree with your post bigtime. Three years ago we built a house out in the sticks and it's better all around. The BS you mentioned is still out there, but we've got a little more insulation between us and it now.

I remember when the militia movement was just starting. In some places guys really would run around in tbe woods wearing cammies with their SKS's. The SKS was to the1990's what a budget AR is now.

Yes, in that way I'd say things have improved. Also, instead of LARPing with an SKS it seems to me people of that stripe are more apt to get actual training now.

Still, I miss buying yet another SKS or MAK90 at the gun show, then a case of ammo and a case of beer. By the end of the day the ammo and the beer would be used up simultaneously. Then we'd clean our rifles of that corrosive Chicom ammo residue and finish off the night with more beer, and maybe camp out in the desert.. That stuff I really do  miss, and I know I'll never ever see those guys again.

Yes. This guy gets it.

Also, there were more than just the "big 3" console makers of today. In addition to Nintendo and Sony (Microsoft didn't join the fray until the early 2000s), we had Sega, NEC, Panasonic, Philips, Neo Geo, Atari, etc. A much more interesting time for video games.

Freedom to mostly do what you wanted without it being documented somehow.

Good music being commonplace. It still exists today but you've gotta go look for it. Before, even if it wasn't my style, it was still quality.

Society as a whole was calmer and less sensitive. Crime existed and was arguably worse in some cases but people weren't so damn nerved up all the time.

TV was better in some ways. Same for movies. There's WAY more options now but the quality is a lot lower in many instances.

Probably more just off the top of my head.

If you can, cancel and order the 250 two stroke. I read the 125 has to revved high to get at the power.
