Floors arrived. Delivery guy and I could not get them up the driveway. So work smarter not harder.

My driveway was in rough shape after this winter. I spent 6 hrs on the Kubota filling potholes, grading, and compacting my driveway.

Finally..Got my tree work done. Had two I couldn’t do myself. One was hanging over the chimney making it dangerous in the fall with dry leaves and drafting issues when having a fire along with huge roots heading into my basement wall and hanging over my new roof.
  This one started life as a Holly “bush” and previous owners let it grow into a tree. I had to get if off my siding and under control.  So I had it taken down to 3-5’ stumps so it can regrow and I can keep it trimmed at a decent level.  Now I have a lot of work to do on the side yard to get it prepped for some sod. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THESE ARE LOADING SIDEWAYS! They are normal on my iPad.  OK loaded them up to my Imageshack account and posted them. Direct from my iPad is now loading sideways. |

Painting the railing and surface of the deck.
One section always gets in the way when I want to shoot so I bought some latches and made it quick to remove.   Going to look 100% better

I laid some tile. I priced some carpet for the master bedroom and it would seem the formerly reasonable local carpet shop, is trying to pay all their bills on this single job.
So, I bought tile. $1K for carpet pro-installed, about 220 sq ft, or $800 for wood grain porcelain tile and all the materials. My knees told me to NEVER lay tile again in this lifetime. Well, I set 1/2 the room on TH. Not too bad. Set the second half on FR. Very bad. My back and hamstrings almost made me an invalid after it was done.  Grouted on SA. Not quite as bad. Moving around OK today at work. Wife will do the mopping and cleanup. Knees actually survived pretty well. We also painted the walls, ceiling, baseboard, and removed a shutter window covering that required some drywall patch and texture. It has been quite a while since I sprayed texture and I didn't mix it long enough. Lumps are unforgiving in the hopper. I will reinstall the baseboard tonight and the new 72" ceiling fan comes in Monday. Next is a new mattress, which is what started off the project.  I will be immediately selling my tile saw. No more tile for me.  eta: We used 1/32" spacers, which apparently no longer exist. Couldn't find them anywhere, so we trimmed up some retired casino playing cards, three cards are 1/32". It worked, we already removed a bunch of them at the time of the photo.

My sister has been using her iPhone as a document camera while holding online meetings from my house. She had been using stacks of books to get the right height.

Roof vent mounted last night, and roof sheeting completed as well. Steel to go on top hopefully today.
One rule with this random chicken coop project is that I spend zero $ on materials. Hence the reason for building it board & batton style - I had a pallet of waste plywood cutoffs amidst a load of wood one week not too long ago. I burn cutoffs and wood material from the manufacturing of pallets to heat our home. Every piece of wood in the structure is pallet or pallet processing refuse. Windows were free from an old house 🙂 I did cheat and spend $40 on exterior stain to attempt to preserver it for at least a few years. We raised about 30 red rangers a couple years ago..
Kept them 8-10 weeks before chop-chop. We let them free range but they stayed close to the coop. We didn't de-feather, We skinned and packaged.. MUCH EASIER, Neater as well. They came in at the 5-7 pound range.. Great tasting meat. Kudos on the coop... Lookin good. |

I've gotten tons of stuff done during the strangest vacation I've ever had. Currently working on stripping painted over 1968 wallpaper in the kitchen. I don't know why someone didn't just strip this before. I had to dry scrape because the steam wouldn't penetrate the painted paper. It's been a pain in the ass. Someone also did some skim coating of the edges, likely to keep them from coming up after paint. That has made it worse. After the top layer was scraped it was on to steaming and scraping the backing off. You can kind of see the pattern in the backing. I've done the first skim coat in the areas that messed up the drywall and today I have to sand and do the second and hopefully finally coat. The it will be on to texturing, priming, and painting. After the kitchen is painted I should be basically done with drywall work in this house which has been a ton of work.

Also finished my flagpoles today that I built out of galvanized top rail for fencing, filled with concrete for added stability... We'll see how this works out, I wasn't in the mood to pay $1,200 for three flagpoles

I built my daughter a hidden litter box for her cat, found an end table for cheap on Facebook and tore out the guts and permanently mounted the drawers to the front. made the top removable so she could get at the litter and cut a hole in the side.... the dog didn't care for it much, LOL

Finished up the basic structure of the table saw stand, waiting on my folding arms for the back so that I can extend it an extra 2.5'. I put the dust collection on the right hand side and a plexiglass window for the dust box just to keep an eye on it in the back. It is functional for now and I'll put the finishing touches on it when I have nothing else to do... Whenever the hell that might be
