Just got back from a little jaunt up to Tennessee for a cabin vacation.  Over $400 in gas just to get there and back.  Ugh.

It's not just an annoyance for most, it will lead to less spending elsewhere - restaurants, non-essentials, etc. Businesses will close, unemployment will rise, inflation due to increased delivery costs... last time it was $4+ was right before the 2008 crash.

It aint good.

It would take over $15 to fill up my wife's lawn mower now. It helps that we had three five gallon cans from last fall that we still have one full one left. We'll get a couple more mowings until we have to use today's priced gas.

Edit - It's better than I thought. She said she has a couple mowings in the mower so we have about five mowings before today's gas prices.

Our fishing camp is 180 miles one way. In my truck, I fill up on the way down and on the way back. It’s going to hurt next time I go.

Probably won’t be as many fishing. Especially off shore.

My truck gets 10 MPG. Fortunately I only drive it when I need to plow snow and haul gravel or dirt. I hope Biden chokes on a bag of dicks before it gets to the next election.

I can fix this.

In 2007 when heating oil hit $4.29 I installed geothermal at the old house.

Sold that house last year.

Current home has oil heat&hot water.

This is correct. Yesterday they said average American will pay $5,000 more per year on gas at current prices. Most are already living check to check. A $2.00 pay raise does not cover the extra gas cost. Then you have everything else up in price. Expect our economy to take a shit, big recession coming.

What most people don't realize is that as bad as things are now, we haven't even gotten to the hard stuff yet. Biden and his handlers have only just begun. This is the time to finish up your preps before everything become unavailable.

I didn't look at diesel when I filled up in Petersburg a couple of hours ago, but 89 was either $4.98 or $4.89. I didn't pay much attention because what difference does it make?

Town was dead on a Friday night.

Yep. $10/gal gas wouldn't totally prevent me from driving, but it would really put a damper on a lot of things.

I did a 2400 mile road trip in late April... spent $457 on gas. That trip gets more and more expensive.

Daily on the local Facebook groups I see someone asking for help with gas or grocery money. That and all the people looking for places to live because rent prices have skyrocketed and they can't afford to live in their current places. Shit, I need to move in August and everything around me is $500-$700 more than what I'm currently paying. Glad I got that $0.75 raise in March.

We are getting offered what equates to $.66 an hour raise. Then want to raise the $$$ for our medical. A lower tier(smaller) company, offered twice that and no changes to their medical to the unions.

Expensive trip; which is why you try to make it as efficient as possible.  Not just one stop but numerous errands or chores that have to be done in that one trip.  I've been doing that for years.

Yesterday I had a medical appt, then to Best Buy to get a hand mixer, Home Despot for dirt & a lamp (no lamp - online order only - sh*t), Goodwill and got some lamps, two grocery stores, Post Office and then home.  As many things as possible in one trip.

However, sometimes you have no choice in the matter but try to do the best you can.

I had to drive to our place outside Laredo to fill up feeders. About $400 worth of gas. Corn was up to $10/50#, cottonseed at $14/50#, and protein hit $15.25/50#. We put out 4 tons of each.

It’s getting too expensive to do anything lately.

Totally true. My road tractor averages 4 MPG loaded and I'm not close to max weight. My usual runs are around 200-250 miles a day. At your fuel prices, that's over $400 to fill up per day. $10 a gallon gas? Shit, bread will be $10 a loaf before you know it.

Many refuse to see this. We just spent another $2K on stored foodstuffs and we're working up another order now. If it goes south like I think it will this is going to be a horrible time to be alive.

Was at the gas station the other day filled up went in for coffee.
a young man infront of me, had a work shirt on so I'm figuring he had a job.
He ask for 4 dollars on pump 2 not even a gallon.
it just really hit me that this guy is working may have a wife and kids just trying to get by.
now that may not be actual fact but you know that's happening.
This shit is devastating to people that are trying.
