I must be doing something right: I never submitted my DD214. I just kept posting assorted pictures I took when I was in.
Some of them You KNOW you had to be in to be able to take. Like that camoed VW Bug I took at Vilseck Or that line for the mess hall that's also in Vilseck.

How does one submit their DD214 to get the dog tags/branch marker? I want to submit a copy with my SSN inked out.

I believe the approval staff is striker. Not positive though. It's been a few years since I sent mine. I think I'm gonna send in my ham credentials to get that going

I got out in 1979. I knew where my DD214 was. It was at home, in a box of my Army stuff stored in the attic.
Then I decided I wanted it about 2 years ago. Never felt the need for almost 40 years. I went home, climbed up in the attic and found all kinds of stuff. Jump boots, class/qualification records from Basic at Ft. Jackson, AIT at Ft. Polk, orders for the travel from Ft. Polk to Ft. Myer, white gloves, box of buttons, a couple sets of blues, greens and even a set of TWs - but no DD214. No luck at all. Had to get on the internet and fill out a request. Got it a few weeks later and put a copy in the gun safe. Haven't looked at it since. Some day, I'll use it. I'm sure of it. |

There used to be an announcement but I can't find it. It was years ago that I sent my stuff in. I was still AD, think I sent my ERB. I'll ask in the .mil section and have someone IM you. You can also try shooting a message to DK-Prof or OP of this thread. They're both staff/mods and active in the .mil forums and can probably help you out. |
