I nearly did that a couple years back from the knee down.
God bless & a speedy recovery. |

Was it an excess 10 lbs or was it something you need?
Either way good luck and here's to a speedy recovery. |

Quoted: It was my right foot. I had osteonecrosis in the talus about 8 years ago. I've had numerous surgeries trying to salvage the limb, but I was still in a lot of pain and not very functional. First 24 hours was pretty awful, the pain regimen I'm on now seems to be working pretty well. It's only been a few hours but the pain is down to about a 3, which is the lowest it's been since I woke up from the operation.
Once I get my prosthetic I'm planning making some shells for it. Definitely going to have a peg leg, I'm eyeing some chunks of desert ironwood for that. Gotta have one with a built in robocop style holster too. |
|
Damn. Hope you have an easy, speedy and full recovery.
My only experience with that surgery was a friend who went into it a physical wreck from years of untreated diabetes. It didn't go well for him. |
|
If you've been dealing with that for 8 years, this will be a great thing. Prosthesis technology has come a long way and you will be much more functional once you get there.

Good luck brother. I lost my left foot in 2020. I hope the phantom pain isn't too bad.

Hope your recovery is speedy and UNeventful........................

Good luck man, but I think you're going to be a lot happier!
What triggered the osteonecrosis? Transtibial is a great spot, prosthetics are pretty trick nowadays. |
|
Sorry things went that way OP but I am glad you are recovering.

@JoshAston
My maternal grandfather lost a leg above the knee when he fell from freight train at age 12. He went on to become a pioneer of medical radiography, an Army doc during WWII, and the reason I’m here. What hospital are you in? |

Now try some CBD oil. That stuff cures everything. Surely it can grow a foot back. Get yourself an AR-15 pistol leg as well. Hope you get well soon.

My buddy had his left done a couple months ago. He stepped in a hole carrying mail and fucked up his Achilles. 8 years, multiple surgeries including replacing the tendon completely, years in a cast or boot, his doc finally agreed to cut it off. He had been asking for a couple years. Luckily workers comp paid for it all so far.
Btw, he calls his stump Carl. |

Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
Now get back to the P80 thread |

Damn! I'm sorry to hear that Brother. If there's anything you need. Don't hesitate to let me know.

Well hey, it appears psychologically you're over it and to me that's the hardest part. Hoping for a speedy pain free recovery.

Quoted: Quoted: Wow OP-so sorry you had to go through this. Did you retire from the USAF or are you still in? Congratulations on the retirement. I remember when you were down the road at MHAFB. Best wishes to you on a speedy recovery. That’s one hell of a thing to go through, but at least you’re still young and better able to recover than some. ETA: Somewhat ironically, I’m sitting in a hospital room with the wife now. She just came out of a exploratory heart procedure and is snoozing away. I loathe hospitals. Time tends to drag on unless you’re in and out from the sedation or anesthesia. You’re a good fellow Josh. Not the end of the world of course, but I hate seeing things like this happen to good people. |
