You can do all that stuff,I just replace mine every 5 years.   I had a need for my truck extinguisher a while back.  Pulled pin, squeeze, nothing.  Gauge showed good but the pressure was gone.  At least it wasn’t my car that burned up.  Eye opener for sure, and that extinguisher was stored inside.

I’d get a basic USCG marine approved extinguisher.

Note if a powder dust fire retardant you need to periodically take it and shake it up and feel the powder is loose.  They can get tamped and packed tight by the constant pounding on a boat and I am sure it could happen on a UTV.    If they get packed and you go to use it you’ll get the propellant only leaving the retardant packed solid in the bottom of the bottle.

Another vote for these . Take up hardly any space compared to a bottle Extinguisher.

Op in the coal mines we were taught to bounce the extinguisher off something hard to cause the powder to break up. After vibrating on a machine the powder gets hard and packed and will not discharge.

We just mount them so they’re out of the major weather. Under the roof.

Anything else and you’re overthinking it. They’re disposable.

Zip tye a rubber glove over the top.

Small dry bag over the bottle before clamping in mount.
