$40b part of $8t in New Federal debt since trump took office.

$40b of a $750b pentagon budget to defeat Russia seems like a deal to me.

The "$40,000,000,000 in inflation financed grift is worth it even if it kills just one russian" crowd can start opening up their checkbooks to pay for it.

US economy is already doomed, the only way to save it is to surrender all assets to a world unified power that will promise to protect it's dependents or subjects. Render unto Caesar what is Kaisers/Czars/?

Solutions will not come from suits/uniforms with tie lapel pins identifying their favorite fraternity.

We've spent enough to pay off every Russian over there, could have had it wrapped up a month ago and had money left over. At best this is going to drag on for years adding hundreds of billions to the budget each year. At worst Putin will get fed up with biden and strike which puts us in a position of having to stop 100% of incoming warheads. Can we even do that? Weather or not we retaliate won't change the fact that just few successful hits can deliver the coup de grass to our already faltering nation.

if that was the case you obviously dont understand how little 40 billion is to do that.  The trillion dollar 'Covid relief' bills + the trillion dollar 'infrastructure' bill are almost 100 times more than the proposed aid package. Compared to even a 'normal' budget its something like 1.25% or something like that.

This is the chance many have been waiting for.

A chance to screw Russia hard without having to being kinetic ourselves.

I'll admit, this isn't much different than what Russia has been doing against us for more than the last decade.

Russia was arming and aiding our enemies in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. They are directly responsible for American lives lost.

Many are using this as a chance for payback, and to undermine Russia at the core.

The billions being spent are to A) ensure Ukraine doesn't fall under the Russian sphere, but more importantly to many in the west, to B) screw Russia good, wrecking their military and economy for at least the next decade.

Regarding the military, much of Russia's military might is on the legacy of the USSR. Ukraine is grinding all of that down rather effectively. As we've seen Russia has been unable to replace this legacy equipment in the post-USSR era, they will be even less able to now. Their military will be significantly less capable and a much lesser threat for a long time. For those worried about WWIII and possibly a combined Russia-China vs the West scenario, this is taking a significant part of the threat (sans nukes) off the table.

Well at least your labor to pay the interest on it because it is all an IOU put upon the backs of the tax payers forever, just like every other dime of debt.

Thank you for explaining you dont actually understand.
First, Zelensky and his admin are not the same as the people that were possibly laundering money for/with the Dems. He was elected for the same reasons Trump was.
Second, if it was about the US domestic landscape it would have been a multi trillion dollar omnibus spending bill that was describes as an infrastructure bill but was in reality a complete financial reshaping of the US govt...OH! Like the one that was killed a few months ago!
Third, the accusation that someone disagrees with your incorrect assessment of giving stuff to Ukriane to fight a proxy war against the Russians somehow being 'agreement with the grift' makes you look like a QTard.

95% of the House and Senate are corrupt, treasonous felons who the founders would have ........

Every single one has voted bills into law without reading them.  Creating laws that affect 330 million Americans and our children, and those fuckers couldn't take the time to read the damn bill.

That alone should be a hanging offense.

Seems overly complicated when they can just print the money, and then have it delivered to their bank to be deposited. It's not like anyone cares, or is going to do anything about it.

I'm real happy to keep sending defensive weapons to Ukraine, in fact I think we should keep doing so.

But 40 billion in extra defense spending could be put to far better use. Consider, for example that we are retiring the Ticonderoga cruisers as they are apparently just worn out and we don't have a replacement. The Burke destroyers are the ships which are supposed to fill the gaps.

But imagine we designed a larger cruiser built along the same lines, using off the shelf components/proven technology, with enough power and space to accommodate future larger VLS cells and laser weapons. We could probably design such a ship rather easily and then build them for about 3 billion each. That would give every carrier battle group a new and very powerful cruiser to act as an escort.

Or we could build about 20 more Burke class destroyers. Or 10 more Burke class destroyers and 10 more Virginia class submarines.

We could buy another 300-400 F 35 fighters.

And that's in one year. Presumably Ukraine will need another 40 billion next year, and 44 billion the year after that, and 48 billion the year after, then 53 billion, then 60 billion...
