I needed a riser for my monitors at work.  I chose a simple design so I wanted to slice it up a little with dovetail joints.  I've never done a dovetail before so I researched the different methods.  I settled on a technique from FWW  using jigs on the bandsaw.

The jigs, one for each angle.  I started out cutting the tails, then transferring the tails to the pinboard and cutting those.  The FWW article I linked above details the process.

I cleared the waste using a block to guide the chisel.  This made it very quick and easy to remove the waste and leave a machined like edge.

First three attempts using some pine.  Don't mind the blood, I found out chisels are sharp.

Here's the culmination of my efforts.

The finished monitor stand.  It's made of cherry and finished with Arm-R-Seal satin.

I really like how this turned out.  The hardest part was building four jigs but now that I have those, precise dovetails are easy.

Looks good.
What woodworking project isn't christened with a little bit (at least) of blood?
