To answer your questions yes to both.

and the first question is only a half truth, i grew up in an air cooled beetle, ill be fine.

It's nowhere as bad as people think it is. You can actually concentrate on, you know, driving. People need to try it sometimes.

The worst part is worrying about people riding in modern cars with a steering wheel in one hand and a smart phone in the other and both eyes on the smart phone.

I was going to say it would still work after an EMP, then I saw it was a fiat... probably wouldnt have been working before.
