The economy, and the automobile market in general are jittery as hell right now. Everyone is standing at the edge of the pool, waiting to see who jumps.

In the very short term the first three days of next week are a crapshoot, and the two days following are even less certain, if that's possible. I will say this, long periods of silence haven't boded well for MVIS in the past, but the possible drivers for that silence have never been this significant, either.

I just bought 9K more shares at $2.005, or thereabouts. Holding 80K at about a $2.98 average. Good luck to us all, and make damn sure your seat belt is fastened and your tray table is in the upright and locked position.

I truly appreciate and respect your unwavering support of the technology and company. I have my moments of pause and frustration for the lack of communication from management and IR. Then I remember the SPACs who were all ahead of us in the game and nurtured OEM partnerships years before us, still don't have deals either. As Sumit said, if this was all decided already then they should have and would have announced it already. I am still holding out hope and took another small 250 share position today. One day I'll be up with be big boys.

Put in an order for some MVIS at $2 today but it didn’t hit. I’m sure there will be more chances next week.

I still have my original mvis shares from when this thread started (I had a second brokerage account that I "day traded" some mvis when it was going crazy)

That said I'm giving them this earning call and the next to deliver something substantial or I'm going to start looking to exit my position writing really aggressive covered calls

I do see lidar as being the next seat belt,  something every car will have in the future,  and I do see mvis having a share of that, I'm just not I'm a position I can let the shares sit around and do nothing for me.

Full disclosure,  I think I made a similar post a year ago and I'm still holding

Or it could be as simple as an east coast company vs. A west coast company... admittedly,  I haven't followed when they normally do their EC, but which do you think is more likely to do an EC in the morning?

NVDA was one of the most bullish earnings lately.  West coat... evening EC.

I bought 10k this week hoping for good news. So probably be back in the $1 range soon.
In seriousness I'm willing to wait it out a few years. I can work another 6-10 years. Hope it goes to the moon before that.

That’s what happened to me the past 18 months.
Think originally bought in with $15K around $2.50, then it dropped to $2.00ish for a long time, then it picked back up to $2.50ish where I brought in, so I sold…then of course it went to $8.00 right after
Then I bought back in at $3.15 and it of course dropped to $2.00ish LOL.

I think a company could certainly use the timing of their ER as part of a larger strategy if it made sense - I would want a Tues premarket earnings release for my hypothetical company if I wanted the data to have the most impact on how the stock trades in the ensuing days.  This assumes the ER has outstanding numbers and guidance, etc.    I am certain many/most have the call schedule based on metrics other than how they might want to impact the stock price.   TGTX will have a high profile for a number of consecutive days as they will participate in an international MS forum from 29 Feb to 02 March, a follow on to the 28 Feb ER.  Maybe they want to try and give their presence or participation at that forum a boost by going in with a rising stock price.

This is one of the most entertaining things I've seen in a while. Kudos to gaporter for wherever he dug this up from...

It details business transactions with the .gov on IVAS, and while I don't understand all of it, there are some numbers and dates that raise eyebrows.

- Amendment: Since initial award the Ordering Period End Date was shortened from 04/02/32 to 05/15/25 and the Vehicle Ceiling has increased 2% from $22,030,068,966 to $22,548,594,309.

Somebody that speaks government contracting...does shortening the ordering period end date by seven years push production delivery to the left?

Then go to this transaction history...
Ordering period end date                   Action date
P00031$(13.6M)                 05/15/25                                       11/14/23
Description BILATERAL MODIFICATION ACTION FOR ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES AND MUTUALLY AGREED DEOBLIGATION OF NEGOTIATED AMOUNTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AGREEMENT ATTACHMENT #27 PARTIAL TERMINATION SETTLEMENT.

There's a very interesting coincidence with that action date... ACCESSWIRE, WA / ACCESSWIRE / November 14, 2023 / MicroVision, Inc. (Nasdaq:MVIS), a leader in MEMS-based solid-state automotive lidar technology and ADAS solutions, today announced its executive management team and several members of its Board of Directors have entered into private placement agreements to purchase shares of the Company's common stock. Pursuant to the agreements, the purchasers will acquire an aggregate of approximately $100,000 of MicroVision's common stock at $1.97 per share, yesterday's closing price as reported on The Nasdaq Stock Market.

Could be purely coincidental, wasn't a huge amount of money but the timing is definitely one of those hmmm kind of things.

Administrative changes and mutually agreed Deoblogation

Ordering period end date—/ shortened by 7 years

Vehicle ceiling increased 2% ($500M??) this doesn’t mean they will actually spend that much.  It’s just a limitation to the scope of tge oroject.  But, why increase it?

Would this be limiting the scope of the contract in term and quantity?

Why would the vehicle ceiling increase to $22.5B in a shorter time?

New and improved product that would have a different spec?

I deal with simple Gov contracts and bids but this is its own convoluted ball of wax.

Without inserting things that aren’t there, I can’t rationalize if it is negative or positive?

Could S2pid be a fraud and have led us down a path to string retail investors along like the pied-f$@$ing Piper?

Short interest?

Been loading up on RILY, baby bonds trading way under par, some of the common.  ER is 29FEB - this stock was beaten down last 6 mos or so by a concerted short effort - really big deal if you've followed it.  They did a press release recently saying outside audit done and no negative findings, etc.   This has the potential for a short squeeze.   I might sell out if a run up to the ER but keep the bonds.   Really good deal as long as they stay in business next 4 years.  the 'M' bond get5s called in one year and trading at $20 so that's ripe for a 22% Cap gain in 12 months

No.  Ordering would need to be completed.  Delivery could still be scheduled out to whatever date, subject to .gov contracting law.

This forces the Government to decide yes or no, and prevents all parties from having the expense of an open DoD RDTE program.

I think it's positive news that the .gov agreed to move it up.

Maybe something as simple as known labor cost inflation included in the original cost estimate for relatively small requirements such as X hours of technician service or similar.

I see this as positive.  Make a decision and move forward, even if the answer is "no, the tech isn't ready," rather than string along development.  And I hope it's ready beyond belief.

Apple cancels work on electric car

(Bloomberg) -- Apple Inc. is canceling a decadelong effort to build an electric car, according to people with knowledge of the matter, abandoning one of the most ambitious projects in the history of the company.

Apple made the disclosure internally Tuesday, surprising the nearly 2,000 employees working on the project, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the announcement wasn’t public.

The decision was shared by Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams and Kevin Lynch, a vice president in charge of the effort, according to the people.

The two executives told staffers that the project will begin winding down and that many employees on the car team — known as the Special Projects Group, or SPG — will be shifted to the artificial intelligence division under executive John Giannandrea. Those employees will focus on generative AI projects, an increasingly key priority for the company.
