What’s the radar cross section on what appears to be non-retractable landing gear?

I suspect the Turks are ahead of the Iranians who showed their mockup.

I was wondering if they didn't want to test too many systems on the first flight. Might as well leave the landing gear down - it's one less thing to fail.

Not uncommon on test flights.

One piece is the landing gear themselves.  Retracting them also impacts stability and the center of gravity.

Nevertheless they've only been beaten to flying their own gen 5 by the US, China, and Russia (and I almost wouldn't count that Russian piece of shit).  Japan flew one a few times but cancelled it.

Looks like a F-22, but the engine outlets look fairly standard. I wonder what the radar cross section looks like without all the cool guy coatings and engines that we've got.

5 gen my butt. Its probably a 4.2 gen behind the Korean 4.5 gen.

Still, an ambitious project. Seems like serious overkill for bombing your own people and Kurds. Probably a major part of their plan to reestablish the Ottoman Empire. At least they gave it an appropriate name for a bad guy airplane.

Their economy is in the toilet.  I suspect they are trying to get into the arm sales racket.  Seems there would be a niche for smaller countries not wanting to pay US prices.   Kinda like Dollar Tree vs Walmart.

Russia has been embarrassing themselves a bit, so Turkey is pitching Russian quality at Turkish prices.

Not uncommon to keep the LG down on first flights

The recovery flight of the B-29 FIFI was made from CA to TX with the gear locked down.

That looks like the fighter jet version of the kit cars they used to make for the Pontiac Fiero.  It may look like an exotic sports car, but it doesn’t even do that right.

They do seem to be making progress with their UAV’s though.  The TB2 has been flying successfully for a decade now.  It and other UAV’s were designed by an MIT graduate named Bayraktar.

I can't remember anyone doing a gear retraction on first-flight.  I'm sure someone has, but I can't recall one.

Lower speed operations.

BAE was part of it, so we are talking about the Brits. I am impressed they actually built something and it works.

That is pretty common from my understanding, you see the same thing with US jets first couple flights of the prototype.

First day on the internet for all you people? I was making fun of third world shit boxes.
If I was the pilot responsible for first flight ina Turkish built jet I wouldn’t pick them up either. I’d Probably stay on the ground actually.

Eta: I hereby dub this jet the flying tisas: I’m sure it’s like the American version but not really. Lol

It’s at very low speed. For a modern fighter, that translates to a high angle of attack.

I was in Istanbul last week and it was incredibly modern.

It makes a lot of US cities look like dogshit to be honest. We are not a serious culture.
