Vangelis, the Greek-born electronic music composer, best known for scoring the music for such films as 1981’s Chariots of Fire (for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score) and 1982’s Blade Runner, died May 17, 2022.

Truly an iconic composer/musician.

This scene from "A Year of Living Dangerously" is made that much more sublime by Vangelis' haunting music.

His Love Theme from Blade runner is one of my favorite pieces. I had a bunch of his CD's back in the day. I know what I'm going to be streaming for the next couple days.

Wow, that's too bad, truly a ground breaking composer.  I have a bunch of his albums.  He also composed and played all the music for the 1983 movie "Antarctica".....

EDIT: Favorite song from that score.....

Lord every 10K or Marathon had that blasting through the speakers at the start / finish line for years after that movie.

It got old after about the 10th time.

Now my knees won't let me walk hardly, much less run anymore.

A Vangelis sound track always seemed to guarantee a 'must see' movie for over a decade during that time period.  RIP.

RIP Vangelis, dude really was a one-man force in music.

There's a reason why he was one of the Lords Of Synth.

His opera music is a little dark. But on a good stereo and with the lights off, it’s a great way to loose yourself.

Wasn’t that used in a beer commercial in the late 70’s or early 80’s? I could never find that add.

Arguably the best composer of soundtrack ever. 1492 is chilling how it builds. Leaving the old world it rises like mankind coming out of the dark ages with the discovery of the new world.
