My teachers were never this cool?
https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/sheriff-popular-union-county-coach-killed-shootout-with-mexican-drug-cartel/P4M26CUMNVGTHPE7KRIQMQC42M/ Barney Harris was the basketball coach at Union Academy in Monroe where he was well-loved and respected, but Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson said there was another side to Harris that most people didn’t see -- one that was involved in the dangerous and deadly drug world. Channel 9 learned Harris and his associate Steven Alexander Stewart went to a mobile home park in Alamance County last Thursday to steal money and drugs from cartel members. According to Johnson, Harris and Stewart shot and killed an 18-year-old member of the cartel and then got into a shootout with other members of the cartel. Harris was killed in the gunfire. “Mr. Harris, he had a bulletproof vest on, but it did not work with the kind of ammunition that was used,” Johnson said. “He had gloves on, and he, they went there to do what was done except they did not think it was going to backfire on them.” Johnson said Stewart, who is from Wadesboro, survived the shooting and was arrested. He has been charged with armed robbery and murder. Harris was hired by Union Academy Charter School in July 2017 as a high school Spanish teacher and served as the head coach for the varsity men’s basketball team and varsity men’s track team. |

"But Mexican drug cartels aren't a problem around here." -All the liberal idiots in Union County.
I wonder how many law enforcement agencies had that crowd on their radar but let them keep on operating. |

If it was a soft vest, pretty much any rifle round should do it.

Local news seems to have not gotten the memo about him kitting up to go rob/kill cartel members.

Yeah, that's one of the inherent risks in trying to get stuff at the gettin' place.

Sounds like a bunch of half-wits decided to rob the wrong people. No loss for society.

Is it time to riot?
Actually, I guess it's always time to riot. Disregard the question. |

We used to have a couple rentals out there, one near Walkup (iirc), and a few more not too far down the road. I'm pretty familiar with parts of Monroe. |

Rifle ammo against level IIIA armor is my guess. Probably this or the plate carrier with no plate answer. I thought pistol caliber ammo against a real vest at first, then the rifle vs vest made sense too. Clint Smith once made the comment that you're depending on the person shooting at you to be a good enough shot to hit the vest and not miss. |

Homie fucked around, and homie found out.
Level 3 vest, cartel with rifles, you lose. Given how stupid the public and reporters are, more likely it was an airsoft tac vest and probably didn't even have plates, or maybe discarded 2nd chance style soft armor that doesn't do squat. The irony of all the fake news sympathy articles with no mention of his criminal career is hysterical, just more Clown World. |

If that is a picture of the actual vest he was wearing, I also don't see any blood or a bullet hole (although the picture is cropped a bit). Shot somewhere other than the vest? |

So was this just a RIP crew that wanted cash? Cause honestly, society is so far fucked I dont blame vigilantes doing vigilante shit to drug dealers. Especially cartels our government could curtail but dont.
Probably just another criminal after drugs and money though... |
