After careful evaluation of existing federal contracts supported by GLOCK, the USCG selected to purchase through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) contract the GLOCK 19 Gen5 MOS as the standard service pistol. USCG acquisition objective was fulfilled by GLOCK within four months of the initial purchase request. CBP’s extensive solicitation process, which included independent testing by the Institute of Justice Laboratories, comprehensive field evaluations, and direct input from 16,000 CBP law enforcement personnel, helped guide the selection by USCG. Good for them. I think I've read here that the USSS is going that way, too.

Now their guys can do backflips without worrying about their service pieces going off on the dance floor.

I have that gun with Trijicon on top and it's very nice. Good for them.

Let me be the first to say the Coast Guard isnt know for making the best firearms choices.
This will go down as another major flop for them. |

@freerider04
I'm just playing the waiting game now. So ready to get something better than these P229-40-DAKs we're using. |

One more agency with pure junk.
Pandering to the lowest common denominator. |

Everyone is thrilled we're going back to the Glock, they say our 19's are fantastic.
We finally quit shooting the OLD INS revolver qual course with our P2000's. Should get my Glock in a few weeks. |

Wonder if they will come with the maritime cups on the firing pin spring?
|

Glocks are not a bad choice after you teach people to
keep their fingers off the trigger |

Good choice.
Wonder why they opted for the 19 over the 17. Are CBP agents likely to carry concealed regularly? |

Quoted: They still use the 1903 Springfield for a line throwing gun. Not the most modern choice. View Quote We had the M-16 adapter that shot the butt plug......................I think I can hurl a monkeys fist further than that POS The 03 is a great line throwing gun , used it many times . |

Interesting choice since the rest of the military went M17. Guess if they serve overseas weapons commonality was not a concern for the Coast Guard.

View Quote The first 3 all count as terrible HC-144 is kind of useful.....6 hours after you needed it. I wonder what it's like to fly so slow you get overtaken by a flock of geese? M-14T was gross, but it wasnt terrible for the intended purpose at the time they got them. How long we kept them was the real flop |

Solid choice. I should carry one myself but I still CCW with a Gen 4 19.

View Quote When I deployed, we were part of an Overseas Contingency Operation funded by the army. When I got to Kuwait en route to Afghanistan, they handed me a m4 and a m9. The rest of the Coast Guard was using m16a2’s and sig 229’s. We make it work when we need to. |

The rest of DoD went with the M18. I could see in a few years the M17 going away and the M18 filming pretty much every role. The M18X conversion kit is pretty nifty too and I think that will filter in as well. As of right now SOCOM & JSOC are using G19.3 and 4s in MOS. Some pictures trickling out indicate that they are now using Gen 5s as well. (Look at the G19 in the SF communities. thread)... |
