Hello,

I have a 2008 Ford 250 Crew Cab Super Duty 4wd. I would like replace the stock shocks. I’m wanting gas shocks, but I’m not sure if I’m right about this.

I need help. Max $ 1500.00 budget. (Possible increase)

Thank you!

UPDATE:  5100’s on truck.

Still need to get some things worked on. I do want to give it a 2” lift. Also need to get new rims. One of the front rims was almost ceased on. Ugly rusty spots here & there. Truck was living its life up in the middle of California by the beach, so the salty air was doing it’s slow damage. Also regular maintenance was neglected. I need to look at the front locking hubs and new tires.

I really appreciate everyone chiming in and giving me opinions and help. Apologize for the slow update.

That should be it. I just glanced at the Bilstein website.

Ok, blistens 5100’s for shocks. Should I replace the coil springs in the front?

5100's are a great suggestion, I had those on my old Tacoma. Next Tier up is is the Bilstein 6112 Front / 5160 Rear. I think the 6112's come with new front springs, mine did when I installed these on my Tundra.

Run Bilstein 4600's in my '99 F250 with camper.
Work quite well.Better than anything I tried.

I went with King Pin Top Shocks

That's the route I would go if you're wanting a performance shock

I took my factory shocks off at less than 2000 miles and sold them

I'm sure you could find someone selling take offs if you're interested in that route also

Where does one install torsion bar keys on an F-250?

Another vote for Bilstein 5100s. Have them on my F150 and very happy with them.

If you run a leveling kit, do it right when replacing the front shocks, get a Carli Setup, with the adjustable Trac-Bar

is your truck a diesel? if so i would recommend 4 shocks in the front and 2 in the back. i have done that on mine and it makes a world of difference in the ride quality. especially if the truck is lifted.
