This was a Vermont town highway department truck in the 30's and 40's. My folks bought it in the early 70's to drive around and promote their first business (A dance hall and roller skating rink). It was last rolling and registered in 1975. After that it sat in an enclosed storage barn until we dragged it up to my dad's property in 2013.
I figure it's time to get her at least running and drivable again. I've enlisted some help as I am not a mechanic. It's going to be a fun project. The mechanical dump body is pretty damn neat. Attached File |

That's pretty cool.
It can be hard to stay focused and motivated on projects like these. I suffer from the same problem. I hope you make some progress. |

When I read the title I immediately figured it was going to be a square body thread.
Cool Chevy op. ETA: Spelling. |

Arms wide open, I stand alone. I'm no hero, and I'm not made of stone.
Right or wrong, I can hardly tell. I'm on the wrong side of heaven, and the righteous side of hell. |

I've found a few pictures of similar rigs. Most seem to have spare tire mounts. Mine doesn't. I wonder if it was optional or a model year thing. Pretty sure mine is a '34.

Chevy has a turbo 4 cylinder crate motor that'd be fun in your old truck. Ditch the dumper for a flatbed to get the weight down and the 272hp and super compact motor would be a fun daily driver. There's a 30's Chevy in my area that I'd love to restomod with that motor and drive it across the country.

That's a lot of work, but it'll be well worth it to get it back on the road.

The Frog is Pepe. Someone shouts Hey Pepe @ Hillary rally, then Roger Stone Jedi Mindfucked someone in the Hillary campaign by putting Pepe in the Deplorables meme and now the shit is getting real.

The shape it's in, keep it original. Plenty of lesser trucks to mod out there. A friend of mine's wife has a 30 something 1/2 ton that she advertises her garden business with. It's original and running, unrestored.

Very cool project!!
I would get the fuel tank thoroughly cleaned, put in new fuel lines, rebuild the carb, and replace the ignition points. Give the truck a good power washing and she will probably run like a top after that. |

I just want to get it cleaned up and on the road. Not going to mod anything I don't have to.
I think the mechanicla dump is badass so that's not going anywhere either. |
