He was also a coward and a woman beater. |

This thread is gonna run three pages and I bet 50% of the posters will be people who claim 1/16th Cherokee heritage and advocate “rolling coal.”

Quoted: Quoted: Popcorn bought his corn likker recipe from my granddaddy. I want to know more about this. What’s to know, after Marvin got out of prison in 1974 (I think) he approached my granddaddy and wanted to make white liquor with him. Granddaddy being just out of prison himself for manslaughter he told Marvin that he wanted to try to stay out of trouble for a while, but said that he would sell his white liquor recipe to Marvin. 150.00 later Marvin had the recipe. Myself, my dad and my uncle made liquor from the same recipe for years up until my uncle passed away and dad got to old to fool with it. |

There’s about 10,999 “recipes” for corn mash whiskey. Get over it. I enjoyed his documentary and his willingness to show people a dying art on film.

It’s not that difficult. Stop being bitter about a guy who made a video teaching people. A mash recipe isn’t black magic. |

Cool story but plenty of good liquor made down east places like Johnston or Bladen County. Ever hear of Percy Flowers?

And that's where moonshiners came from. I wonder if Mark Ramsey and digger are legitimate? They were students of popcorn Sutton.

My late father grew up around that time in Selma/Kenly/Clayton. His uncle was an “associate” of Percy’s so to speak. Dad bootlegged shine at White Lake in Bladen County while selling airplane rides at the local airport in the 50’s.

I watched a documentary about him. He got caught running shit sugar liquor out of big submarine pots and when it was time to go to jail he killed himself by running his exhaust inside his car.
