Seriously tell me what you think vs. the Rustler VXL, specifically around durability.
I'm over these new Traxxas models. They are NOT the same as they were in the 90s. They fall apart just looking at them.

It’s advertised as 6s and 4s but the motor got pretty damn hot on 6s with the stock pinion. I put a fan on it after and will mess with it hopefully tomorrow even though I’m pretty busy. I can tell you it’s very well made. Without a doubt this thing will take a beating. |

Ok I turned the timing down. They had the ESC timing at 22.5deg. That seems pretty damn high. The punch was at 4. Timing is now at 7.5deg and punch is at 8. That should bring the motor temp down and the low end torque up, which is what I want in this thing.

Hobywing max 8, best thing you can do to a traxxas. |

They fall apart just looking at them. Ok after spending a little time with it I can give you an honest opinion. This thing is a beast. I have cartwheeled it 40+ yards, backflipped it over a huge hill in a park near me, as well as tumbled it down said hill. It's landed on the roof, nose dived, etc. Nothing has broke. Nothing. I will say that it does need to be looked over thoroughly before you run it. One of the motor mount screws backed out as well as the pinion set screw. That was my fault for not checking them first. I would definitely recommend this truck to anyone who wanted a hardcore basher. |

I love Arrma so far. I’m just getting into high-ish end RC and have his/hers models of both the Senton 4WD 3S and the 6S Notorious. I went back and forth between the Outcast and the Notorious, landed on the latter. Really good sale right now- wife took blue, I have black. They HAUL.
Getting hooked on mods. My wife and I beat the shit out of the Sentons smashing into each other and both of them are now waiting on parts. These things are a blast. Feel like a kid again, complete escape from work/the world. Just a bummer when something breaks. |

One thing is even though it’s marketed as a “RTR” I wouldn’t say it is. You really need to go over everything and make sure all the screws are tight and that the ones that need loctite actually have it. My Outcast had a loose motor mount screw and pinion grub screw, for instance. My Limitless gets looked over after every outing since a crash with that tends to be more expensive. |
