My computer is getting old and occasionally will die on me if I attempt to play games or at random times. I'm not the most tech savvy person so I browsed Craig's list and found an inexpensive one.

Here are its specs:

Antec Lanboy Gaming Case
MSI L337 Gaming Z97 ATX motherboard
Intel Xeon 1225v3 3.2/3.6 GHz cpu
Corsair H80 liquid cooler
16 GB (4x4GB) DDR3-1866MHz Ram
XFX RX480 8GB gpu
256GB M.2 main drive
500GB SATA storage drive
Corsair CX600 600w PSU

Windows 10 pro.

What's a fair price for her?

$200?

That's a very old computer. The CPU is nearly a decade old and that's a midrange graphics card from 4 years ago. The RAM is last gen which no new computer has used for a few years.

They want $450. I might get a prebuilt of Amazon for a little more and just use my credit card.

That's probably a better idea.

Yes. Save your money. It's worth nearly nothing because there's not much you can do with that from a gaming standpoint with modern titles.

Id check Facebook market place before craigslist. Easier to check out the seller and get a better idea about them.

I think it's cobbled together. M.2 drives aren't old equipment so the Mobo probably is newer than that.  For someone who plays games, the main drive is a but small.

I agree with the facebook comment..You occasionally see decent deals for PC's on Facebook but honestly you will be better off buying a pre-built if you are not technical.. As far as the PC you posted specs for? I would not even accept it for FREE if someone said they would bring it to me....I have scrapped PC's more powerful in the last few years haha.

You can get decent used machines for $600~ that are way newer than that Xeon build.  You would bottleneck just about every modern graphics card you put into it.

Have seen people selling 4770k and 6700k builds the past few weeks on facebook for $500~

CPU released in 2013, if I recall correctly, m.2/nvme started in 2012.

After talking to a few friends, I'm going to hold off and have one help me build one.

Excellent. Much more fun that way and you'll know what you're getting.

How much are you wanting to spend?

You can build a Ryzen 2700x for $1000~ give or take depending on what premium parts you want.

If you give us a budget, we can build a parts list.

Once you've built one you'll think. "Damn that was easy. What else can I do with it?" All of a sudden the pre builts don't seem like such a great deal.

Definitely better. Pre-builts often cheap out on the components they don't advertise on the sticker (power supply, motherboard, etc)

It would probably run mine sweeper at 30frames.

Maybe you'll luck out and there will be some pretty fantastic homemade porn on the HD but otherwise I'd hard pass on that.

Another thing to remember when buying used pieces is much like a car it can be hard to tell how hard it's been run.
