In this thread we talk about the things that lots of people think are really important or meaningful, but you dont give a shit....or you even think it is weird/silly/unimportant.
For example, I am well versed in what a magazine is and what a clip is. Even a good bit of the history. Language evolves. Definitions change. I find it odd that some get so bent out of shape about it. The spirit of this thread is supposed to be on the lighter side. I am sure some people will post heavy topics and that is fine as well. This is not a thread about arguing with people who do not like what you like. It is simply pointing it out. If you pick something obscure, please give us a bit of primer on the issue. |

i always said (for years now) that if voting could really change things, they wouldn't let you do it and lookie there, i was fucking right (and that and $5 gets you a cup of coffee) |

Watching most popular sports. Loved playing sports as a kid, baseball, football and even soccer, but unless me or friend or loved one is participating i could give less than a rat turd about watching sports.
I've witnessed grown ass men exibiting more raw emotion than they ever do normally while watching perfect strangers compete. Even saw grown men crying when Paul Bear Bryant died. Bear was a man who they had never met in real life. I find that odd. |

The violation of "the sacred ground" on the Capital. Politicians should feel the anger of the people on a daily basis.

The opinions of actors, singers or athletes about anything that is not directly related to their profession - i.e., I could give a flying squirrel fart what a basketball player thinks about politics or who I should vote for.

Maybe don't piss people off enough that they feel the need to break into your (their!) office. Every single decision they make should run through a "will this get me dragged out into the street and tarred and feathered?" filter. |

The U.K.'s Royal Family. I think the whole idea of even having one is fucking ridiculous. I remember when some of my wife's family was in tears over Princess Diana.
Worshiping the Pope. Give me a freaking break. Or any member of the clergy. Any clergy, or religion. It's just fucking stupid. |

Bear was a man who they had never met in real life. I find that odd. View Quote I agree. I work with a guy that's a HUGE Auburn fan. Knows everything about them going back 40 years. Knows who every coach was, what their salary was, who they coached, what their win/loss record was... Dude never set foot inside a college classroom in his life. For me, it's worshipping material possessions for their own sake. For the sake of "He who dies with the most toys, wins." I don't get it. Yeah, I've got a bunch of different firearms, but they all serve different purposes - mostly. If I somehow lost my 6.5 CM bolt-action rifle, I'd just want to go out and buy another 6.5CM bolt-action rifle. Cars, the same way. Yeah, I've got a decent car, fairly new, gets me where I Want to go, has all the creature comforts I want - why would I need to put "better" rims on it? Or whatever. I know a guy with a two-car garage that's so full of stuff that they can't get either car in their two-car garage. I guess they think they're winning at life. I'd rather take my daughter out to dinner ten times than buy that custom, specialty, one of a kind whatever it is. |

Funerals.
They're for the living. The dead don't care. And the standard funeral is so damn depressing. To some cultures like the hmong a funeral is a three day celebration of life. Kegs and pig roasts. That's a proper send off imo. |
