Just old enough to remember.

Gas under a dollar

The malls were full

Pokémon was everywhere.

Every new video game was better then the last

And every single isle in the grocery store had a cashier, every, single, one.

.

It all changed when 9/11 happened.

Gas hit under a dollar last year.

Pokemon go was huge a couple years back.

No, it was changing before that.  I also recall glass office buildings due to the recession in 1990...  I recall 200 resumes per opening at the firm I worked for.

I've been enjoying a lot of late 90s early 2000s stuff lately and it made me think the same thing. I feel like American society peaked prior to 9/11 and we'll never get back to the same level

In the 90s? When grunge was king? Pretty sure that was the precursor to people waddling around Walmart in their pajamas or underwear.

Knocking on the classroom door to take my son fishing.  Teacher would open the door to see me standing there, truck and boat out front.  Yea, my son has an appointment.

You talk about a kid waking up and coming alive on a Tuesday.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure POGS are never coming back.

Tomagachis are a thing still.

We were just at the store and there were dozens of them on an endcap. They even had a baby Yoda one.

This. Maybe it's the grumpy old man in me but the internet and technology brought a lot of negatives along with the positives to society. I'm glad to have lived through the 90s as a young man before smartphones and the internet became central to our lives.

I'm almost50. From my perspective things started going down with9/11. Obama paved the way for where we are now. I'm sure people thought the same long before me with commies and JFK.  I'm sure long before that people felt that way with the assassination of Lincoln.
