Fantastic movie.
Make sure to stay through the credits for the mini "making of" at the end. Jackson's enthusiasm brings the mood back up. |

I saw the preview back during the opening weekend of The Mule and forgot about it. Didn't realize it was so limited.
Glad its playing again on the 21st. A Monday. I'll hit the 13:00 showing by myself, if I can remember. Wish I could eat popcorn. Fucking diverticulitis. |

You young guys who never knew a WW1 vet have no idea how much of a kick to the head this is to people who had relatives fight in it. It left some scars for sure.

View Quote every one of the vets I knew and every one of my family members who knew my Great Grandfather said he was exactly the same. all were pretty "hard assed and mean". not to be messed with and very quick to violence- gun or brute force by hand. I always tell people remember that Tulsa Riot which destroyed Black Wall Street and leveled 1/3 of a town to bare ground..... those were WW1 vets who opened up their National Guard Armory and handed out weapons. those men of Eastern Ok who fought in WW1, would only associate with their like kind and had severe PTSD and Psych issues in many cases. |

Got my tickets. I’ve been listening to Dan Carlin’s podcast in WW1 and this will make a nice ending to the podcast.

I'm going to see it in a theatre in a few days, with another arfcommer.

Going to see this Monday hopefully.
Just finished the novel "a solider of the great war" - so it will he really neat to see this footage come alive. |

Just sat down in the theater.
Pleasantly surprised at how many people are here. |

I’m here for the 4pm showing. Idiot manager just came in to tell us it’s at 80% downloaded. Yay. Someone asked him if he was still going to show the half hour doc at the end. He said I don’t know. Yay. Regal Cinemas is pretty pathetic.

Saw it today. An absolutely amazing piece of work! Very powerful. If you stay for the post credits part you find out that Peter Jackson's grandfather was wounded in the first battle of the Somme.

Just got out and wow was it a great film. The 30 minute making of feature afterwards was really fascinating as well.

Just saw it. The transition to color had the audience gasp and then an audible WOW was heard.

Sorry, just found this thread. I knew about mondays showing but was not able to see it. Found DVD on amazon but
says will only play region 2 player. Anyone know of any other way to buy it? Hoping another showing will come around. |

I enjoyed it. Really cool to get a look at ww1 warfare, and soldiers in full color.

Saw it yesterday. It was visually incredible. Especially in 3D, and much of it was fascinating. Lost me a bit towards the end, but it was very moving and intense.

Took my 17 year old son to watch it. Told my Dad about it and he took my Mom to see it. My Son aspires to be a Marine Corps Officer. He was moved by the first hand accounts of war.
What an amazing movie. The attention to detail when modernizing silent movies was spectacular. I cant recommend it enough. |

Went to see it with the family when it first premiered and was blown away. The piece at the end where Peter Jackson discussed the process of restoring and making the film is worth staying after the credits for.
1000% recommend. |

Still couldn't get there due to distance to a theater and work. Hopefully they have more days

Saw it last night in the east bay, really amazing documentary.

Saw it yesterday. B+ in my opinion.
There were two or three times they reused scenes and it bugged me. 100s of hours of footage to choose from and they reused pieces. But there were times when the images were so clear and realistic I thought they could have been filmed yesterday which was startling. Like I forgot I was watching something old. That was really cool. And not a single airplane in the whole thing. They talked about artillery, trucks, tanks, and machine guns but not even a mention of air power. |

We went to see it yesterday. It was amazing. The 30 minute "how it was made" after the credits was amazing as well.
When they wanted the movie/documentary made they certainly went to the right guy. He had all kinds of cool stuff sitting around that he had collected over the years. |
