What would you choose?

I'd go with the following....

Beretta 92 Centurion

S&W 4566

And just since it is 1992....

Daewoo K2 as my go to long gun. 1/7 barrel, long stroke gas piston, folding stock, rugged sights.

Of those listed, the Beretta.

If choosing any...probably still the Beretta.  Maybe BHP.

In 1990, I was carrying a 92F, the department tried like hell to get 4006s but the Smith distributor pissed the Chief off and said that the Glock would never last and that we should buy glock if we couldn't meet the smith price.

We were getting authorized for Sig220s and 645/4506 if the deal didn't go through for agency owned weapons.

Of the two you listed, the S&W. However, I'd probably pick a P7M13 just for the hell of it.

ETA: This is, of course, assuming I got to 1992 via time travel. Otherwise, the only thing I'd be packing in 1992 is a water pistol (I was 6 years old).

LOL....The K2 I owned at the time is the reason I never had much of a desire for a AR back during the AWB. IMHO it was hands and feet better than a neutered AR of the times.

Browning HP for the win for full sized, PPK/S for compact.....I had a M1911 but it was a match gun.

I can't really count the TT-33 and P-38.

Perfection was invented in 1982, 10 years before your cutoff. Or are we pretending like the 17 was never invented

In that case BHP

Duty purposes? Beretta 92 probably, particularly if my hypothetical agency spec’d them with G Decockers and D mainsprings.
Concealed carry?
Beretta 84/85F.

Civilian non-carry gun/target purposes? 1911.

Thread Title says The year is 1992 and .40 S&W and Glock are never invented[/b]... what do you choose?

So inferring from that.... that means that in 1982, the Glock 17 was never invented.

Smith and Wesson 5906 on duty and 3913 off duty in the civilian world.

Didn’t have much $ in 92.
It was a Taurus PT92.
Still have it, don’t recall a FTF, FTE, etc in all those years.
It’s far from the most accurate pistol I’ve ever had, but it works.

Easy.  92 or BHP.  Carried both at different times, wouldn't hesitate to do so again if that's the best that existed now.
