It crashed into the dock TWICE.
MotorYacht GO destroys the Sint Maarten Yacht Club dock The yacht Go crashing into the dock !twice! in Simpson Bay, St Martin |
|
More info:
The yacht Go was seen crashing (slowly but steadily) into the dock in Simpson Bay, St Maarten. It was confirmed a computer malfunction on board the mega yacht Go caused the yacht to lose its steering as it was attempting to exit the Simpson Bay Lagoon. As a result, the mega yacht drove helplessly into the wooden dock of St. Maarten Yacht Club, destroying most of the wooden decking. The superyacht is owned by Hans Peter Wild, known for owning the Capri Sun juice brand. https://www.superyachtfan.com/yacht/go/ |

Lost its steering?
Ok.... Lost its ability to stop or reverse engines too? Beautiful boat. |

The boat or two cutting in front. I know it was sped up but Jesus.

A little bondo and it will be good as new.

I really would not have thought there was that kind of money in Capri Sun.
Damn. |
|
They forgot to drop anchor.

One time ok, that's a mistake. Two rams is just amateur hour regardless of computer malfunction.

I had to laugh when the speed boat and the other small boat raced through between crashes.
It just does not seem like the appropriate place for yachts of those sizes to be navigating. |

I saw the one video but didn’t realize they hit it twice in a row

Captain and helmsman should have been detained and drug tested.
A vessel that size would/should have crew in the engine room with emergency engine stop capabilities. And emergency drop anchor, unless the Notice to Mariners indicate underwater cables or fouling hazards. Helm crew panic or not qualified to be at the helm to begin with. |

"Computer Malfunction" is Dutch for "The Helmsman's high as fuck!".

If you trace the path of the yacht before it hit it looks like it was having major issues. But the armchair captains will just look at the last 30 seconds.

Well I guess if our Navy can run into a cargo ship and blame it on an iPad error, this is plausible.

View Quote The last thirty seconds of the second video where they backed up and rammed it again? Now I'm just an armchair captain, but why wouldn't you just stop the engine after the first collision? |

Me thinks the captain watched Speed 2 too many times.

Holy shit, was the captain high?
A ship that size is usually piloted in. |

I lived on St Thomas for a few years and saw these knuckleheads a lot. 90% sure it's a 65 yr old fat owner in a thong getting a hummer from a 20 something...or letting her drive.

"computer error" twice?
I get once. Once could have even been a bikini girl asking to steer and using the computer as an excuse. But backing up after crushing the dock the first time and making another run = Arrogant, unqualified drunk at the helm. |
